Responsibilities

Responsible for the clerical organization of patient care units. The secretary functions as a member of the Health Care Team and assists in the coordination and support of all unit and patient-related activities. They are responsible for stocking supplies in assigned areas. Obtains and delivers supplies, equipment, and specimens to the requested areas. Maintains clean and orderly environment on patient units. Responds to requests to contribute to the care and nourishment of the patient. In addition, this position incorporates charge reconciliation, and abstracting/coding data. This requires data entry into the computerized professional billing system of ER diagnostic and procedures codes and surgical charges from ER records. This requires daily monitoring of the EMR and financial systems.

Tracks the receipt of all ER records via reports of visits from the ADT system. Also monitors the completion of ER records leveling sheets. This individual is accountable for interfacing with many departments in order to reconcile, correction and validate the Emergency Department Charges

Good numerical and alphabetic recognition and sequencing skills and the ability to file in terminal digit sequence.

Ability to work with computerized systems and have accurate data entry skills is mandatory.

Qualifications

Training & Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Prior work experience suitable for position preferred. Clerical experience in an acute care hospital setting for a minimum of 2 years is mandatory.
