Job Description : Summary
The Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History, on historic Independence Mall in Philadelphia, presents educational programs and experience that preserve, explore, and celebrate the history of Jews in America. Its purpose is to connect Jews more closely to their heritage and to inspire in people of all backgrounds a greater appreciation for the diversity of the American Jewish experience and the freedoms to which Americans aspire.
The Weitzman’s vision is to be the preeminent national museum creatively teaching, interpreting, and inspiring dialogue about the American-Jewish experience in the context of American history. The Museum will be a force fueling the American spirit of courage and imagination, aspiration and hard work, leadership and service, through active engagement with the stories of American-Jewish life and tradition.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Visitor Experiences, the Manager of Visitor Experiences will help in creating and managing a superior visitor experience, with responsibilities in Front Desk and Floor Operations and Group Tours.
This is a five-day-a-week position including required Wednesday – Sunday
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Front Desk and Floor Operations
o Personnel
§ Manage box office associates (weekends)
§ Generate schedule for front desk and floor operations, including paid and voluntary personnel.
§ (See also recruitment of docents and volunteers and scheduling of docents for group tours below)
o Floor Management (Weekends)
§ Support Front Desk staff with checking in groups, tours, and VIPs.
§ Circulate frequently throughout the Museum to monitor operations.
§ Act as liaison between Front of House and Security, Engineering, and Housekeeping for urgent matters.
§ Act as liaison between Front of House and other Museum Departments for effective information sharing to all visitors and Museum staff.
§ Make accommodations to ensure ultimate experiences for all visitors.
§ Handle customer service escalations with diplomacy and professionalism.
§ Promote Museum membership and share Membership reports with Development.
o Control and Systems
§ Oversee morning cash-in routine and daily prep at front desk, preparing change requests as needed (weekends).
§ Ensure someone is assigned to perform start up routine for AV within Museum on all days when exhibitions are open to public or groups (weekends).
§ Field troubleshooting requests with AV on as-needed basis (weekends).
· Group Tours
o Work closely with the Group Sales manager on the scheduling of groups.
o Schedule docents and arrange rooms and other logistics for Group visits to ensure excellent pre-visit and visit experiences for all groups.
o Maintain contact with scheduled groups from completion of the sale until tour.
o Welcoming and orienting groups on day of visit and arranging other onsite aspects as needed (weekends).
o Ensure that tours proceed in a timely fashion, intervening with docents as needed (weekends).
o Tracking and culling a variety of group information, generating reports and other materials as requested.
· Volunteer and Docent Relations
o Organize volunteer recognition events.

Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree and/or minimum 3 years of experience working directly with the public and coordinating visitor services required. Museum, zoo or similar educational/cultural institution preferred.
· Experience supervising, training and scheduling volunteers and/or staff
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Experience with Microsoft Office and a POS system environment essential, experience with Galaxy and Counterpoint preferred
· Demonstrated ability to pro-actively address issues, with excellent problem solving and decision-making skills and sound judgement.
· Genuine interest in the mission of the Museum
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
