SUPERVISORS’ TITLES: Director of Visitor Operations & Group Sales Manager; Director of Retail Operations & Associate Director of Visitor Engagement
FUNCTION OF POSITION: To communicate effectively and appropriately with guests. Provide world-class customer service by anticipating needs, offering assistance, and making recommendations. Demonstrate strong attention to detail to all functions of Visitor Services.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The College of Physicians of Philadelphia/ Mütter Museum seeks a part-time, 28 hour a week Visitor Service & Gallery Associate. This position requires reliability, professionalism, excellent customer service, and, cash handling skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a complex, fast-paced environment are required. Computer experience and cash register experience are a must. Retail, museum reception, or other related experience is preferred. Attention to detail and a positive, friendly demeanor is mandatory. Candidate must possess exceptional cash handling skills, be comfortable working with increased visitation in an indoor environment, be interested in learning about the Museum Collections, be reliable, and deal with a variety of visitors in a friendly and professional manner. This position entails repetitive tasks including ticketing scanning and informing visitors of rules. Visitor Service & Gallery Associates must have familiarity with administration procedures, security matters and become familiar with Museum gallery exhibits. This position is a weekend-mandatory position with two additional weekdays required and pays $14.00 per hour for the first 90 days. The pay will increase to $15.00 once the employee successfully passes the probation period. The hours are (9:00am- 5:00pm/ 9:30am- 5:30pm depending on the staff assignment)
Visitor Service & Gallery Associates are required to handle a variety of duties including, but not limited to:

Greeting visitors, providing information, directions, and other assistance to ensure a positive visitor experience.
Efficiently operate a point-of-sale system by conducting Museum Store transactions, Museum

Admissions, and Membership Sales.

Demonstrates a keen and dedicated knowledge of Museum Store merchandise.
Assist in loss prevention by keeping the Museum Store clean, well-organized, and well-stocked at all times.
Maintains high visibility while working inside the Museum and makes themselves available for questions guests may have.
Develop familiarity with the Museum collections and be able to provide a brief history. VSGA must be enthusiastic, pleasant, and willing to learn information about the gallery’s content. Patrols assigned areas on foot conducts security tours and completes incident reports. (This position may require you to stand for up to 7 hours on your scheduled shift).
Enforces Museum policies and procedures using good judgment and excellent public relations skills.
Miscellaneous tasks such as stocking public areas, organizing coat room, conducting Museum walk-throughs; acting as point person and public face of the Museum.
May require you to assist with registration after normal business hours for Events.
