Position : VOLUNTEER SERVICES ASSOCIATE
Job Description : Overview
The Volunteer Services Associate trains and monitors volunteers in the product recovery operation.
Essential Responsibilities
Train volunteers to sort, evaluate and box donated product using established standards to ensure food safety.
Keep product recovery work areas clean and organized, remove trash, recycle cardboard and promote overall cleanliness and inspection readiness.
Assist with weekly cycle counts and data entry.
Additional Duties
Monitor inventory levels and request necessary items as needed.
Operate forklift and pallet jack to place or pick product.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent and one year of volunteer management experience
Technical Proficiencies
Knowledge of computer programs; ability to enter orders into system.
Forklift certification and ability to safely operate an electric pallet jack.
Communication Skills
Must have ability to speak, read and write English; able to respond to inquiries and complaints in a tactful and helpful manner.
Other Competencies
Ability to train and monitor volunteers while working closely with them; ability to perform basic math, count and label product; pallet jack experience; forklift certification (required within 30 days of employment); ability to multi-task in a busy environment; compassion for our mission.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Works primarily in a warehouse environment
Frequent standing, walking, lifting and pulling up to 50 pounds
Requires work schedule flexibility with weekend and evening availability
