***There is a bunkhouse that is available for use that is located at Clearwater Unit. There is no charge for the use of this housing.
Job Overview:
This position serves as a Forest Technician on the Clearwater Unit within the Southwestern Land Office of the Trust Lands Division in the DNRC. The incumbent participates in a variety of forest management and forest improvement projects. Typical projects and activities include:
Timber cruising and other timber sale preparation
Data collection
traversing and surveying proposed roadways
Marking locations for various purposes
Thinning set-up
Prescribed burns
Contract administration

Approximately 5% travel time with occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
Applicant must be at least 18 years old. Typically requires at least two years experience in forestry related work (or forestry course work). Applicants must be familiar with plant and tree identification, map & compass orienteering, land survey systems, data collection methods, and air photo interpretation. Requires a Montana Operators Driver’s License.
Requires graduation from high school and at least two years experience in forestry related work (or forestry course work).
SPECIAL INFORMATION: Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. A valid driver’s license is required with less than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months.

ELIGIBILITY TO WORK: In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act, the person selected must produce within three days of hire documents that show authorization to work in the United States. Examples of such documentation include a birth certificate or Social Security card along with a driver’s license or other picture I.D., or a U.S. passport, or a “green card”.

Applicant Pool Statement: If another department vacancy occurs in this job title within six months, the same applicant pool may be used for the selection.

Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
