Position : Health Unit Coordinator – Labor & Delivery
Job Description : This position is a full-time (0.8 – 1.0 status), day shift Health Unit Coordinator position in the Labor and Delivery department.
The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) performs routine administrative and clerical duties at and around the nursing station, providing prompt and courteous service to patients, families, physicians, staff and public alike. Helps monitor and facilitate activities at the nursing station and performs tasks necessary to maintain proper flow of patient care and related documentation. Acts as receptionist and must be able to remain professional with a positive attitude under stressful conditions with multiple demands.
Minimum Required: High school graduate or equivalent required. Must have experience in administrative support and or receptionist duties. Notary Public certification required or the ability to gain one within one month of hire. Strong customer service skills required. Demonstrated ability to multitask in a stressful environment. Must have basic computer proficiency, ability to use a multi-line phone system. Must be proficient in English, verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred/Desired: One (1) year HUC experience preferred. Preferred Medical Clerical experience and Medical Terminology. Scheduling experience in Cerner preferred. HUC/Scheduling experience in Cerner preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft office applications, health care patient records/scheduling/billing/order systems, and/or an electronic health record system preferred.
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend.

Experience
Required
Experience in administrative support and or receptionist duties.
