Job Description : General DescriptionDrivers are the backbone of the operation. Drivers maintain the safety and integrity of PLS through consistent work and diligent driving. They load their vehicles in an efficient manner and deliver with care. Drivers are responsible for moving every package that comes through their work area and communicating with management in regards to any delivery or safety issues.PLS is a FedEx Ground contractor servicing Humboldt county from northern Arcata to Crescent City covering roughly 2,000 square miles every day. The Eureka station covers McKinleyville, Trinidad, Hoopa, Willow Creek, Arcata, and Blue Lake. The station operates 6 days a week (Monday thru Saturday). Knowledge of the area is a plus but not required.QualificationsMust be 21 years or olderMust have 6 months or more of commercial driving experience within the last year; OR one year of commercial driving experience within the last 5 yearsMust have a clean driving recordMust be able to pass a background check with the countyMust be able to pass a drug test (including marijuana)Must be able to lift 50 to 75 lbsResponsibilitiesSafe driving practicesCleanliness and general upkeep of vehiclesRoute completion every day with a steady stops per hour countSafety training and safety meetingHandling disputesProfessionalism when interfacing with customersReporting maintenance issues to the proper manger(s)Our ideal candidate is someone who is reliable and a team player above all else.
