Providence is calling a Patient Services Representative (Mental Health, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Medical Group Montana in Missoula, Montana. Shift Details: 40 hours per week, 8 hours shift from 8AM to 5PM

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Answer all incoming departmental calls promptly and responds according to hospital policy
Apply patient armband according to hospital policy
Communicate with the next shift about the status of work in progress
Consistently ask for and obtain current insurance and subscriber information; accurately interpret and assign correct insurance and subscriber data, in the correct format
Consistently ask for patient’s legal name, date of birth and social security number; accurate medical record number and account number retrieval and assignment; consistently enters all data according to Epic standards
Consistently document and comment on the patient account regarding discussion with the patient, insurance verification and benefits, special information provided to the patient, etc
Consistently obtain signature on “Agreement to Pay” forms or documents per established procedures
Consistently perform real-time electronic insurance verification and apply findings accurately to the patient account
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of patient registration functions, including status changes, transfers and discharges
Follow registration scripts and protocols for patient interview process, use scripting and correctly explain the Privacy Notice, Patient Directories and Condition of Admission; obtain signatures as applicable
Handle all registration forms per procedure (ie general consent, Important Message from Medicare, Champus)
Handle patient walk-ins and respond to their concerns, questions and requests
Maintain knowledge of federal, state and agency regulations as well as third party payer reimbursement mechanisms to ensure prompt payments
Obtain 3rd Party Liability forms and information
Operate hospital telephone, fax, computers, printers and copy machines properly; identify and report equipment failures or malfunctions
Perform the MSP Questionnaire according to hospital policy; interpret patient answers to correctly identify primary insurance
Provide other hospital-specific forms to the patient according to policy
Review comments and follow procedures on payment collection and receipting to obtain co-pay /POS cash that is due on the date of service; consistently asks for payment at the time of service; demonstrate ability to successfully handle patient objections on requests for payment at the time of service
Review comments on pre-registered accounts and obtain missing information
Understand clinical signs of physical and emotional distress and alert the RN to any change
Communicate clearly and appropriately using age specific standards with staff, patients, and families of patients
Listen to the perspective of the customer and respond appropriately in a respectful manner; acknowledge and respond to requests within and between departments; provide appropriate assistance or service
NOTICE: St. Joseph Medical Center Family Clinic (Dept 465.70700) PSRs must participate in call rotation
Duties specific to PMG Endocrinology services 462-70720:
Greeting, interviewing and registration of patients. This include but is not limited to obtaining patient demographics, insurance information and verification, explanation of various forms and polices, obtaining signatures, discussions on financial responsibility, collection of monies and initiation of the proper episode of care as well as downloading insulin pumps, meters and glucose sensors in a timely manner to provide to the patient’s provider for their scheduled appointment. Process require information on all patients according to departmental and interdepartmental policies and procedures while adhering to the patient focused admissions process
Booking cases for clinic appointments in Missoula and our outreach/satellite offices through the referral workque in EPIC
Working with Diagnostic Imaging to schedule any special testing including but not limited to MRI, CT, CTA, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine
The scheduler will also coordinate schedules for 4 medical providers and 5 CDE’s for outreach visits, call days, vacation time and other events
The scheduler must schedule cases in the most efficient manner possible, with the ability to multi-task in a large volume, high-paced environment with multiple distractions
The scheduler will also make reminder calls to ensure a low no show/cancel rate daily
In addition, the scheduler will assist in administrative duties assigned by the Practice Manager of the department and Front office Coordinator of the Endocrinology Service Line. This is a fast paced, consistent high volume clinic
Critical thinking skills a must
Gathering and abstracting medical records and labs for each Endocrinology patient that receives services
For those still utilizing paper charts, those will be pulled daily
The Representative must maintain Federal Privacy Rules, must be able to work closely with the hospital medical information staff to help manage their records, must be able to quickly respond to requests for patient information that are received from all Endocrinology staff
Must be able to be proficient with computers
Must demonstrate job related skills in a safe, appropriate, effective and timely manner
Manage information specific to her/her role by providing timely input; by using and transmitting information in print, verbal and document forms appropriate to job tasks
Perform other duties as assigned. This job is very fast paced and has a consistent high volume of work
AADE Database entry and maintenance to assure recognition to bill Medicare
Duties Specific to St. Patrick Hospital Wellness Center:
Verify insurance benefits and any authorizations needed for therapy services
Ensure all Plans of Care are signed by the provider as required by Medicare and are scanned into Epic if necessary
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
One (1) year experience in a healthcare related field, specifically patient access, insurance eligibility verification/authorization, billing/electronic claims submission, or collection of accounts receivable
Computer and/or data entry experience
Demonstrated application of hospitality skills in any service field
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Previous hospital admitting experience
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the employee with the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work will be considered
