Description/Qualifications:

Our Security team at Salem Health is currently accepting applications for Field Security Officer positions. This position has variable hours and is classified as either: unscheduled (non-benefited), part-time (benefited) or full-time (benefited).
Your Role With Us:
As a Security Officer with Salem Health you will be asked to promote a positive environment that is safe and secure for patients, visitors and staff. You will also provide security services to protect the interest and property of Salem Health from criminal activity or loss. You will oversee parking to ensure a smooth flow of vehicle and foot traffic for all patients, visitors, staff and members of the public in and around the environment of care. You will provide physical intervention and restraint as appropriate to protect a person from harming themselves or others.
Core Functions:
Security Stationary Checkpoint (Oak/Capitol Street): Monitor, screen and inquire with vehicles and emergency vehicles entering the facility as directed by standard work and policy.
Access Control: Monitor security access and issue visitor passes after hours based on standard work procedures.
Incident Reporting/ Data Entry: Maintain activity and enter information for any required logs, emails or reports daily on authorized security related programs. Generate clear and concise written reports of shift activities, incidents or concerns.
Radio/Telephone Communication: Use portable radios, phones or other communication devises appropriately and according to established procedures.
Observe and Report: Pay close attention to detail and provide information for any general activities of operations for any safety and/or security concerns to field officers, supervisors and managers.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors and Salem Health employees.
Building Rounds- Rounds an assigned area of multi block campus on foot to ensure personal, building and equipment safety and security. While performing tours of facilities, examines access control points for appropriate security, assesses environment of care deficiencies (e.g. lights out, fire-doors broken, excessive hallway clutter, missing fire extinguishers, etc.), and observes general activity of operations for any safety and/or security concerns.
Campus Patrols- Actively patrols assigned area including garages and other parking areas for parking infractions and checks for suspicious activity. Issues warnings for infractions of Hospital parking policy.
Calls for Service- Responds to requests for security services within times set by department policy. Provides escort services for visitors and staff, as necessary; provides other public assistance, such as jump-starts and routine information. Provides physical intervention and restraint as appropriate to protect a person from harming themselves others. Maintains current knowledge and/or training of ProACT – Professional Assault Crisis Training.
Investigation- Conducts interviews and gathers information needed to bring investigations to a close, conducts any follow-up contacts required to complete the investigation, contacts police department or has the victim do so if required, completes report and computer entry by end of shift.
Incident Reporting- All security incidents or calls for service the officer is requested to assist in or is involved with will be documented as established by department policy. All reports are completed to department standards, and shift activities/reports are entered into the department’s computer system.
Background/Expertise:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Relevant experience in security, law enforcement or military police work is strongly preferred.
Experience in healthcare security, highly preferred.
Previous experience in customer service, required.
DPSST unarmed certification preferred or obtained within one (1) month of hire.
CPI certification obtained within three (3) months of hire.
NIMS HICS 100, 200, and 700 online certifications within one (1) year of hire.
Must possesses a valid driver’s license for a minimum of two (2) years. Current license to be issued by the state where the employee resides.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft business products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
