Job Description : THE POSITIONDouglas County FairgroundsOn-Call Non-Benefited PositionJob Summary: This position provides support to the Fairgrounds in the preparation, processing, organizing, and maintenance of information, records and materials. This includes typing, data entry or word processing on a typewriter or computer keyboard; filing, photocopying, receiving/receipting payments, scanning, recordkeeping, receptionist and/or clerical related duties, communicating information to others and appropriately receiving, screening, reviewing and verifying documents or materials.Essential Functions: This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.Accurately type a variety of documents or input data into a predetermined computer software format to transfer information from one source to another;Perform indexing, filing and/or recordkeeping duties, conduct file and record searches; screen, review and/or compare documents or materials; examine and assess forms for completeness;Operate a variety of office equipment which may include automated and/or computerized equipment utilizing specialized databases and systems; enter and retrieve a variety of data to a specific system; review and compare reports and/or printouts for accuracy; make copies and assemble information;Courteously greet and assist the public in person and by telephone; transfer calls, take messages, and/or make appointments; perform varied counter work and provide general information responses to inquiries;Collect and record cash payments, issue receipts and post to departmental records in accordance with established cash handling practices and procedures;Pick up, deliver, open, sort, stamp, stack, deliver, distribute, and/or otherwise process department documentation, incoming/outgoing mail, materials, ballots, or supplies from outside sources as directed;POSITION REQUIREMENTSSKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities required, will be considered. however, the following is preferred:High school graduation or equivalency supplemented with experience in customer service and working in an office setting.Knowledge of: general office practices and procedures, keyboarding, different filing systems including alphabetical, numerical, geographical, and chronological; basic business English, spelling, and punctuation; and basic math skills. Skill in: typing accurately at a speed required by the position; operating basic office equipment, including but not limited to operation of a multi-line telephone; reiterating information verbally and in writing. Ability to: organize, file and retrieve materials and documents; add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers, common fractions and decimals; communicate effectively in both oral and written form, manage time efficiently while exercising initiative and judgment in completing tasks and responsibilities; understand and follow directions, demonstrate attention to detail, solve practical problems, maintain records, reports and/or statistical data; interpret a variety of documents, instructions, or procedures; write routine correspondence; maintain confidentiality; work independently or as part of a team; and courteously meet and deal effectively with other employees and the public.RequiredAt time of appointment, must possess valid Oregon drivers licenseRegular and consistent attendancePosition may require infrequent driving.
