Position : HIM (Medical Records) Technician
Job Description : The HIM Technician is a part-time position that reports to the Director of Health Information Management. This position is responsible for scanning medical records received from other facilities, updating the computerized Master Patient Index, logging Release of Information (ROI) requests and a backup as needed for phone coverage, processing ROI requests, tracking deficiencies and completion of provider documentation and for completing birth and death certificates and other assignments as needed.
Requirements:
1) Have a high school diploma
2) Ability to operate general office equipment including desktop computer, fax and scanner
3) Understand the confidential nature of handling medical records; experience with HIPAA is preferred
4) Be detailed oriented, a self-starter and team player
5) Ability to successfully pass drug screen and background check.
Salary is commensurate with up to 10 years of experience.
