Job Description : Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative in Clackamas is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our HR Department. This is a full time, onsite position working Monday – Friday.
About Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative
OBRC is the industry steward of Oregon’s nationally recognized beverage container deposit program. With 25 BottleDrop Centers and 5 plants around the state, we help keep Oregon beautiful by providing outstanding services to our partner distributors and retailers, and to the public for the recovery, reuse, and recycling of beverage containers.
Summary
The HR Generalist position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. This position performs a variety of complex technical and professional work in analyzing and administering various components of the organization’s human resources system, including employee relations, benefits, leaves of absence, recruitment, and training. This position serves as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies and helping resolve work-related problems.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Manages leave of absence processes, including but not limited to FMLA, OFLA, ADA, disability, and any other forms of leave required under state/federal law and/or company policy
Partners with HR management and operational management to communicate and implement various Human Resources policies, procedures, standards and government laws/regulations
Interviews Exempt and Administrative candidates to fill vacant positions.
Conducts new employee orientations for administrative positions in the corporate office
Works within company guidelines, to manage and resolve employee relations issues, by conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations
Conducts or arranges training for managers and supervisors on topics including, but not limited to labor law, sexual harassment, interview practices, and hiring and terminating employees
Maintains and updates company job descriptions.
Builds relationships with line management. Provides day-to-day performance guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
Provides guidance for all employees as needed for all OBRC / BottleDrop locations
Partners with the Sr. HR Manager to develop human resources guidelines, and aligns human resource solutions to meet current and long-term business requirements
Assists with administration of benefits programs
Education/Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources or a related field.
Bachelor’s in human resources, business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or an additional 5 years of related experience and/or training in lieu of degree.
Requirements – Skills, Job Knowledge & Abilities
Broad Human Resources knowledge including, but not limited to, leave management, policy implementation and communication.
Ability to execute HR best practices in employee retention, compensation and benefits management, conflict resolution, program implementation and employment law (including but not limited to ADA, FLSA, and FMLA)
Ability to identify qualified candidates for job openings by using appropriate selection criteria using behavioral interviewing skills, knowledge, abilities and traits to the position requirements
Ability to partner with and build strong relationships with managers and employees across OBRC/BottleDrop to positively impact business results
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with individuals at all levels with both internal and external partners
Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhere to deadlines, handle frequent changes effectively and professionally, follow through on issues in a timely manner, and give excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
A current driver’s license and acceptable driving history is required
