Objective Job Summary
The position is responsible for billing insurance companies for all hospital andhospital-based physician bills; tracks the collection of all claims until insurancecompanies make payments; produces other work related to the billing process. Essential Tasks and Functions1. Reviews and resubmits denied and rejected insurance claims.2. Develops and submits hospital and hospital-based physician claims to third-partyinsurance carriers by electronically or hard copy billing.3. Secures important medical documentation required or requested by third-party insurances.4. Follows up with third-party insurance carriers on outstanding claims till claims are paid, or only self-pay balance remains.5. Processes claim rejections by either making accounts private and producing a letter of rejection to the patient or fixing any billing error and resubmitting claims to third-party insurance carriers.6. Operates with a physician or medical record staff to guarantee that correct diagnosis/ procedures are reported to third-party insurance carriers.7. Executes accounts private and inform patients when claims are unpaid after time frames in established accounts receivable policy.8. Retains updated on all billing and benefit changes for third-party insurance carriers.9. Posts third-party insurance carrier remittance vouchers.10. Monitors claims for missing data and authorization/control numbers.11. Preserves confidentiality of all data.12. Completes work within authorized time to ensure compliance with departmental standards.13. Continues updated on all third-party billing specifications and qualifications for insurance types within the field of responsibility.14. Exhibits knowledge of, and supports policies and procedures, finishing instructions, confidentiality criteria, and the code of ethical conduct.15. Maintains third-party billing records.

Work EnvironmentOptimax maintains a professional office environment. The company uses office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Position Type/Hours of WorkThis position is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Optimax must work 30 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
Benefits and CompensationThis is an entry-level position. The starting wage is 15 dollars per hour with 100 hours of paid time off a year. Optimax provides full-time employees with the following benefits: medical, dental vision, and life insurance; retirement plans.
Physical DemandsThis is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Required Education and Experience1.Completion of high school.2. Two years of prior experience in the billing of third-party insurances for facility and professional services required.
3. Leadership or Management experience a plus

1.Knowledge of third-party billing requirements2. Post-high school certification in insurance billing, data processing, and medical terminology; or Associate Degree.3. Courses in insurance billing, data processing, and medical terminology preferred.
