Job Description : Cascade Pacific Pulp is looking for an Applications Developer to join our team at our Halsey Pulp Mill! Candidate will process users’ requests to customize software, design prototype applications, implement and test source code, and troubleshoot software applications.JOB PURPOSE: Develop application processes and maintain existing in-house applications and SQL databases. Process users’ requests to customize software, design prototype applications, implement and test source code, and troubleshoot software applications.The successful candidate will be passionate and open-minded about development with an understanding that all IT solutions exist to serve business needs.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform all job duties & responsibilities in a safe manner according to company safety policies; responsible to ensure employees’ compliance with safety policies and all other company policies.Observe IT security procedures and demonstrate professional ethical standardsUnderstand client requirements and how they translate to application featuresProvide comprehensive support to internal customers and possess a strong sense of urgency when responding to requests, issues, and potential downtime whileEvaluate existing applications to reprogram, update and add new featuresAccurately document programming and code changes to allow for repeatable processes and cross trainingManage and oversee the development and maintenance of the organization’s public web site and online supplier portalMaintain several Microsoft SQL Server databasesServe in the on-call rotation with the IT team to ensure that our critical systems remain highly available, and that users working outside of the normal 7AM-5PM hours also have IT supportAdapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected eventsEnsure confidentiality and reliability of corporate data, proprietary information, and intellectual propertyJob Qualifications4-year Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related discipline5+ years of current experience as an applications programmer/developer and practical use of the Systems Development LifecycleIndustry certifications are a good complement to your education and experienceExcellent written, oral and computer skillsAnalytical thinking and problem-solvingAttention to detail and time-managementJob-Related BackgroundWorking knowledge of, and experience with, programming methodologies and languages including VB.NET Framework/VB.NET Core/VB.NET (5/6), VBScript and Visual StudioExtensive knowledge of, and experience with, MS Access/Excel VBAExperience with online development resources including WordPress CMS and PHP/HTML/JS/CSSWorking knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server including database design, T-SQL, stored procedures, job scheduling and securityExperience with source code managementFamiliarity with Microsoft Server and Workstation operating systemsSome of what we offer: Competitive Starting Wage DOEAnnual Pay IncreasesExcellent Medical/Dental/Vision and Prescription Drug Coverage401(k) with a 100% Company Match on the first 8% contributedGenerous Paid Time OffCompany Paid Life InsuranceShort and Long-Term DisabilityLooking Long-term?In addition to a generous benefits package, we offer continuous learning opportunities and an additional week of paid vacation every 5 years to a 6-week maximum.
