The Center for Professional Practice of Nursing (CPPN) strives to provide quality education to nurses and allied health professionals throughout UC Davis Health and the community. A priority for CPPN is the education of health-care providers to prepare them to provide excellent patient care in the midst of advancing technology, increasing acuity, and an ever-changing political climate affecting nursing as a practice. This Patient Care Services department provides medical and allied health education programs for employees and the community as well as for patients and the lay community. CPPN is approved as a provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing and ANCC as a provider of continuing education contact hours.

Responsibilities

This position provides pivotal programmatic and logistical coordination and support for nearly all areas of CPPN. This role provides front desk customer service, serving as the primary point of contact for both internal and external customers. This role is accountable for assisting customers through independent trouble shooting and first line support for the variety of technical programs currently utilized in professional education, including support for online course registration, student interface between UCDH and other educational vendors (such as AHA e-courses), and onsite independent e-learning carts (such as AHA skills check off cart). This role supports development and implementation of individual courses through preparation course materials developed by presenters and preparation of packets of handouts for distribution to course participants. This includes working collaboratively with educators within the department and with unit-based educators. This role plays a primary function as well in data management and critical record keeping, through accountability for creation of electronic class folders, input of class data into records needed to maintain accreditation, and through management of the evaluation software program (REMARK) including data entry and generation and distribution of reports. Financial responsibilities include accurate preparation of receipts and deposits for course fees and vendor support, collection, maintenance, and security of credit card information, as well as accountability for securely and accurately charging individual registrants credit cards, as well as appropriately refunding as needed. Additionally, this role is key in creation and maintenance of university documents related to processing income and expenses for courses, and purchase of materials and office supplies through current supply requisition programs. This role is also accountable for maintaining the preregistration and attendance process, provide office coverage, including coordination of coverage for front desk during all office hours, distribute mail, maintain resources to provide information about activities, and maintain organized files for related resources and records.

Required Qualifications

Experience in high volume customer service environment.

Highly developed customer service skills; commitment to quality in all interactions.

Interpersonal skills to communicate in a personable, courteous and professional manner, relating tactfully and diplomatically to a wide variety of people within the health system and the general public.

Ability to disseminate information and provide assistance for the appropriate target audience in person, by telephone and in writing.

Extreme attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to work on a variety of detail-oriented tasks with frequent interruptions.

Ability to learn and apply policy to financial transactions and recordkeeping to ensure a high level of security and accuracy.

Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in working with others to secure necessary information and cooperation from a variety of people.

Experience handling and prioritizing multiple tasks, establishing goals, organizing projects, and meeting deadlines.

Demonstrated problem-solving skills to anticipate and identify issues, independently apply policy, evaluate information, analyze trends and propose actions.

Extensive experience and high-level skills using word processing, spreadsheets, calendaring programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with cash and credit card payment.
