Job Description : Summary
The current vacancy is within the District Attorney’s Office and it is a TERM position set to end on 6/30/2023. For terms and conditions concerning the appointment of a Term employee, see Section 6.13j (Download PDF reader) of the Butte County Personnel Rules.
Under general supervision, performs a variety of administrative duties related to the investigation and prosecution of criminal offenders.
FLSA: Non-Exempt

Essential Job Functions
Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. Updates automated and manual computer records and tracking systems.
Research criminal justice information, locate and interview witnesses.
Serve subpoenas, assist attorneys with trial preparation; assists deputies in case preparation.
Respond to crime and search warrant scenes, assist with collection of evidence.
Conduct low-level investigations.
Receives and sends information to and from other agencies and jurisdictions; coordinates activities.
Creates and maintains criminal and civil case files; researches files and computer databases.
Type’s information on standard forms and inputs data into computer system.
Checks local and state warrants, and collects and distributes related paperwork.
Collects statistical data and compiles data for reports; updates and assures the accuracy of statistical database.
Promotes District Attorney’s and Sheriff programs as assigned; projects positive support of the department and county organizations at all times.
Resolves problems and creates solutions.
Utilizes a computer software system to input, access, retrieve, and analyze data.
Performs a variety of general administrative duties.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of 30 college units; public service and computer experience preferred.
Must possess valid State of California driver’s license and successfully pass a background investigation, fingerprinting, criminal and other relevant records checks.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements
Work is performed in the field and/or an office environment.
May be subject to repetitive motions, such as typing and vision to monitor.
May be subject to angry or distraught citizens.
