Job Description : Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a part-time Lab Assistant to join the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory. Primary duties include:

Organize proteomics sample preparation
Sample preparation (pipetting, centrifugation, and dilution)
Maintenance of mass spectrometers including vacuum pump and oil changes
Maintenance of chromatography equipment, cryogen-gas fills
Waste solve and lab management
Train staff to prepare samples and interpret data
Mass Spectral data interpretation
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Familiarity with basic laboratory practices including pipetting and making solutions Proficiency using PC and MAC Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs Prior experience in any area of science-based research (preferred) Prior experience with GC/MS and LC/MS equipment Attention to detail
