Job Summary The Patient Transporter is responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of pediatric patients of all ages, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations enabling physicians, nurses, technicians, and other healthcare team members to perform their duties in an effective manner. Ensures positive patient/family, healthcare team customer satisfaction, proper utilization of body mechanics, adherence to policies, procedures and standards. May be required to work days, evenings, nights, weekends or holiday shifts as assigned.

Experience
Required: None required.
Preferred: One (1) year of experience with lift devices and safe transfer. One (1) year of healthcare experience in an acute care hospital or one year as an Emergency Medical Tech (EMT). Previous experience transporting pediatric patients and their families in a hospital setting.

Education
Required: High School diploma/GED or equivalent.
Preferred: Post High School education in health care related course.

Training
Required: None required.

Specialized Skills
Required: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English required. Knowledge of medical terminology. Exhibits excellent verbal and listening skills. Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards. Ability to provide care with sensitivity and respect. Ability to develop and promote positive effective customer service relations with patients, patient family members, visitors and staff, understands and exceeds customer expectations. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills. Effective problem solving skills. Ability to work under potentially stressful or emergent situations. Proficient in general computer usage.

Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Licensure
Required: Basic Life Support (BLS).
Preferred: Emergency Medical Tech.
