Job Description : ABOUT THE ROLE…Mackin is looking for a Production and Inventory Manager to help create a pilot production client and new operating model for our client. This is an urgent need with a target start up date of the end of March. Experience is perishables is preferred but not required. There will be some travel to other production sites required. We are looking in the Portland, Oregon area.The P&I Manager will have E2E management and oversight of onsite team at the work site. Liaise with and support vendor team to increase overall productivity, minimize downtime and reduce costs. (NOTE: Process steps include receiving, QC inspection, cooler putaway/storage, staging, pre-production, production, boxing and dispatch.)PEOPLE LEADERSHIPManage all staff on-site (FTEs and contractors).Train and manage employees to ensure an accident-free and healthy work environment.Coach, motivate, hire and support our diverse site staff; partner with vendor to leverage all site staff for optimal productionSITE MANAGEMENT Plan and prepare production schedules, including order prioritization methodologyHost daily, weekly planning mtgs. Take ownership of preparation, including ensuring approved pricing, recipes, subs, orders, etcEvaluate and ensure adequate site resources (raw materials, product, systems/equipment) and staffing are availableEstablish KPIs (definitions, calculations, etc). Produce daily and monthly reporting with metrics including plan and inventory accuracy.Ensure compliance with (CA) USDA and other agricultural requirements as well as (CAL) OSHA regulations.Sign-off on refunds and/or returns to suppliers for incoming product quality issuesCommunicate/escalate problems/issues impacting production Management. Liaise with team if capacity is not achieving 90% utilization and/or not hitting consumer promise datesLeverage best practices from existing production site to create workflows, policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or qualityCreate overall site flow, space needed per function, and facility/cooler layouts.Establish inventory control practices and management standards for outsourced, drop ship and/or micro production sites.Determine productivity goals for all process steps/functions.Conduct time studies to determine production UPH by SKU and product. Create labor models based on findings.Manage daily and weekly costs.Manage redelivery SKU productionCollaborate with COO to determine standardized outsource, drop ship and micro production site operating models, capabilities, headcount, systems, processes and other dimensionsABOUT THE CANDIDATE…Extensive experience running and managing non to semi-automated production floors and sites (10+ yrs)Strong knowledge of supply chain management with financial and business acumen, especially inventory control and management (10+ yrs)A proven track record leading and guiding indirect and direct team members (8+ yrs)Perishable industry experience a plusBilingual in English and Spanish preferred.Ability to creatively solve problemsSolid, sound judgment and good intuition to make critical business decisionsExcellent verbal and written communication skills. Tactful, diplomatic and calm, especially in situations that require a sense of urgency.An amazing team player, always seeking to make the organization its bestSome to proficient knowledge of USDA, EPA and (CAL) OSHA regulationsNimble and adaptive; someone who can thrive in ambiguityAble to drive organizational change by leading through exampleHands-on and flexible in approach.
