Job Description : The Position Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor Supervises: Non-supervisory position The City of Palo Alto is seeking an energized Storekeeper to work in the Warehouse Operations unit of the Administrative Services Department, Purchase Division. This is a fast-paced, dynamic, and challenging work environment focusing on exceptional customer service. The position will be responsible for receiving, storing, shipping and distributing materials, equipment and products to various City departments. Preferred applicants will be detailed oriented and possess the interpersonal and communication skills needed to foster effective cooperative working relationships with City staff and citizens at large.

This position is represented by Service Employee International Union position (SEIU)

Essential Duties

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Maintains security of equipment, parts and materials.
Conveys materials and items from receiving area to storage area by hand truck and materials handling equipment, including forklift.
Records, sorts and places surplus inventory (police and other City surplus) in storage to be held for disposal, sale or auction.
Keeps records of materials or items (including surplus materials) received, shipped or distributed in accordance with established procedure.
Working Conditions: warehouse environment; requires climbing, stooping and moderate to heavy lifting and standing; outdoor/indoor work activities; operate equipment and vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills and abilities, which would typically be acquired through: EXPERIENCE: Experience in inventory control and warehouse operations.

Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License
