Job Description : (Contract Position)

LOCATION: Executive Support Office – Pablo, MT

SALARY: $31.24 to 35.91 per hour

CLOSING DATE: Thursday, March 31, 2022 @ 5:30 p.m.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

This is not a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the definition of the CSKT Drug Testing policy. The

successful applicant if not already employed by the Tribes must pass a prehire drug test and will be

required to serve a sixmonth probationary period.

DUTIES:
Implement Food Sovereignty Pilot Program goals and objectives, as directed by the CSKT Food

Sovereignty Team through the Deputy Executive Officer of Special Projects and Planning.
Responsible for overall management of Kicking Horse Kitchen/warehouse facility Procure the

foods necessary products for the distribution program in accordance with the goals and values of

CSKT Resolution 21090
Manage the inventory of all foods and products ordered (Responsible for logistics of inbound

goods and produce, tracking and receipts of goods)
Ensure the successful distribution or use of foods and products (Coordinate logistics on the

outbound deliveries of products)
Oversee food processing, portioning, packaging, and labeling for distribution
Operate and maintain commercial kitchen equipment, electric forklift, and other equipment

provided
Manage program staff by recruiting, hiring, selecting, training, assigning, scheduling, supervising,

evaluating and enforcing discipline when necessary in accordance with policies
Establish work priorities and/or methods used to accomplish work within established goals,

policies and procedures
Create and maintain a schedule for food distribution to various programs and tribal membership
Manage kitchen and warehouse schedule and record keeping to ensure maximum safety and

productivity
Maintain and ensure safe and sanitary work environment and ensuring any applicable safety

standards are met
Ensure equipment is properly maintained and kept clean and in safe working order
Report regularly to the CSKT Food Sovereignty Team on progress, budget, staffing, lessons

learned and best practices, etc.
Identify and create beneficial relationships with other CSKT departments and programs to create

a strong, local Tribal food system
Have productive professional working relationships that include but are not limited to: current

staff, Food Sovereignty Team members, and various CSKT tribal programs local food vendors

and producers, etc.
Lead public communication efforts about the Pilot Program, its services, and CSKT Food

Sovereignty initiatives
Identify funding needs and potential opportunities, and support the pursuit of securing funding for

CSKT food projects
Other duties as assigned by CSKT Food Sovereignty team and Deputy Executive Officer of

Special Projects and Planning
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (AS REFLECTED ON THE TRIBAL EMPLOYMENT

APPLICATION)
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education AND current Servesafe manager certification;

or must obtain certification within 90 days of hiring
At least three (3) years of direct supervision AND office management experience with emphasis in
program management, computer systems, fiscal responsibilities, contract administration, and budget of a

Tribal or Federal government program, reporting, inventory tracking, ordering and accounting AND at

least five (5) years of experience in commercial food cooking and/or production.
Possession of a valid State drivers license with the ability to obtain a Montana Driver’s license within six

(6) months. Must have liability of full coverage insurance on personal vehicle (if used to travel offsite in

performance duties). Also must wear Tribal Government identification and safety apparel when working

and conducting field activities.
Must have knowledge in preparing budget requests, tracking contracts, executing procurement policies,

supervising staff, working with the suite of Microsoft Office programs, development of tracking

spreadsheets or databases
Must possess a deep understanding of CSKT Food Ordinance – Resolution 21090, governmental

personnel policies and their application within the workplace.
Must have experience in a commercial kitchen setting, food processing, production, packaging and

distribution in accordance with health codes and standards.
Must be able to create and maintain inventory records, track production and distribution of any and all

products created by the program.
Knowledge of local food systems, food producers, vendors, CSKT tribal member foragers, gatherers,

hunters and fisherman.
Knowledge of computers, cell phones, tablets, and other office/electronic equipment to maintain daily

communications, ordering, inventory tracking software, create regular reports, etc.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds repeatedly.
Ability to walk and stand on hard floors for extended periods of time
Ability to adapt to changes in room temperature
