What you’ll be able to do:
This position is for the Sterling Axle Plant located in Sterling Heights, MI and reports directly to the Labor Relations Supervisor. In this critical role you will:
Encourage an effective, inclusive work environment / culture and build relationships, balancing employee advocacy with stewardship that aligns with company goals and values
Build strong relationships with operations partners, union representatives, HR colleagues and specialists, and other business partners in order to jointly deliver strategic objectives and resolve issues
Coordinate and assist in UAW contract negotiations, implementation and ongoing administration of the Master and Local Collective Bargaining Agreements
Investigate and prepare responses to grievances
Administer all aspects of union Representative Compensation
Support hourly personnel recruiting and hiring
Handle personnel relations activities and health and safety activities as required
Lead HR efforts related to investigations, governmental inquiries / charges, grievance resolution, performance and absence management, complaints of unfair employment practices / discrimination, and disciplinary action
Coach, counsel, and educate salaried operations partners on HR policies, processes, programs and plans
Interpret data and use technology to proactively identify and diagnose business needs / opportunities and develop solutions to meet those need
Track and report on labor planning data and strategies to support our customer
Ensure adherence to the attendance policies and administer discipline action when needed
Work is in a manufacturing environment, with ability to flex schedule when needed
**Supplemental roles are not benefit eligible**

The minimum requirements we seek:
Bachelor’s degree
One or more years of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel /PowerPoint/Outlook)
Two or more years human resources/labor relations work experience
One or more years working with the UAW or other labor union in manufacturing environment with daily interactions with union staff, hourly employees, and leadership
