Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Experience designing both print and online materials and ability to communicate in well-crafted, sophisticated language. Excellent organizational, analytical, and management skills. Ability to collaborate with and communicate effectively with work colleagues, faculty and students, administrators, and the general public
Desired Qualifications
Position Purpose
Responsible for all marketing efforts of unit. Includes overseeing all marketing efforts related to messaging, website, social media, writing and communication, working closely and on a regular and formal basis with University Communications and Marketing.
Job Duties
Messaging
Collaboratively develop strategically branded and targeted messaging and appropriate communication vehicles to increase and enhance visibility, student and faculty recruitment, retention, business/community partnerships and alumni engagement.
Website
Collaborate with university support to develop and maintain website. Ensure the website serves as the foundation of our brand messaging, and is engaging, user friendly, ADA-compliant.
Monitor traffic statistics and apply findings to keep website relevant and useful, identifying and developing key pages and home page content in response to projected trends and school activity.
Manage digital video production, video and audio streaming productions for marketing and the website.
Social Media
Promoting brand and targeted messaging, create, manage and enhance social media channels (Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, YouTube, email, etc.). Build community base and engage audience with relevant, meaningful content. Support unit initiatives (undergrad/grad recruitment, community engagement, research, alumni engagement, etc.) via social media.
Writing and Communicating
Write, edit and coordinate targeted communications and other messages to prospective students, constituent community, publications, web sites, external media, and marketing materials.
Collaboratively develop programmatic brochures and other media vehicles, leading photo and video content integration that is consistent with brand and messaging.
Draft executive communiques to enhance Deans team leadership and administrative efforts.
UCM Liaison
Liaison with University media relations to promote school, faculty, and student news that advances the unit and university in the media and the community.
Coordinate marketing and communications projects with University Communications and Marketing Department. Responsibilities include research, client services, liaison with design staff, photographers, video, web and media production staff and vendors.
Calendars
Ensure that all events are inputted on the Oakland University calendar, departmental Google calendar, external calendars (Detroit Free Press, Metro Times, etc.)
