Job Description : JOB PURPOSE
Supports the Assistant Vice President/Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity to ensure compliance with equal opportunity standards and laws. Provides assistance in the interpretation and application of University policy, federal and state laws as applied to equal opportunity, discrimination, harassment and affirmative action. Investigates complaints of discrimination; assists with University equal opportunity compliance, reporting and training efforts. Reports to the Assistant Vice President/Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Performs investigative work involving the review and evaluation of the University’s equal opportunity practices. Investigates internal and external discrimination/harassment complaints; conducts one-on-one interviews with claimants, respondents and witnesses; gathers data and analyzes facts; make recommendations concerning disposition and resolution of complaints; works with units to prevent discriminatory actions.
Assists the Assistant Vice President with all internal and external Equal Opportunity/affirmative action compliance and reporting efforts. Assists with monitoring, analyzing and advising University colleges, departments, and units to ensure compliance with equal opportunity/affirmative action standards and guidelines. Expands applicant pools to promote minority and female workforce representation, as well as representation of veterans and individuals with disabilities; and provides assistance regarding affirmative action policies and plans to administrators, faculty and staff.
Assists with Americans with Disabilities Act accommodation requests and compliance efforts. Addresses accessibility and compliance complaints and suggests corrective actions where necessary.
Assists with training University employees and students regarding Equal Opportunity policies, state and federal laws including creating and revising written materials, videos, on-line content and tracking participation. Assists with maintaining office website and provides technical support/assistance to Office of Equal Opportunity.
Prepares professional word documents, memos, letters, emails reports, manuals and power point presentations. Ensures documentation of Office of Equal Opportunity matters through resolution including case intake, tracking, management and resolution. Answers departmental phones/emails and resolves issues or direct calls as appropriate.

Unique Duties
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Master’s degree in business, human resources, psychology, organizational development, labor relations or related field. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Seven ? ten years’ progressively more responsible experience in equal opportunity, affirmative action, civil rights compliance or related areas.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to articulate broadly and deeply about core areas of equal opportunity at a level consistent with seven ? ten years’ progressively responsible experience.
Specific areas of knowledge should include: affirmative action, civil rights compliance, culture change, Title IX, learning and development, employment law, disability, employee and labor relations, diversity & inclusion, compensation.
Knowledgeable mediator with well-developed conflict resolution skills who has the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, conduct complaint investigations and perform data analysis that demonstrates best practice processes and procedures of the various equal opportunity employment and education regulatory agencies.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with employees at all levels.
