Ascension is seeking a Communications Specialist, Marketing and Communications to join the team in southeast, MI.
What You Will Do:

This position will work on a variety of communications projects, both independently and in conjunction with other team members and leaders. These functions vary and will require independent judgment and decision-making within broad parameters as well as project management capabilities and the ability to deliver on defined objectives. This position focuses on content development and storytelling, tactical development and activation, and coordinates distribution of deliverables to support internal/external communication strategies and plans.
Responsibilities:
Writes/prepares content for published, printed or electronic deliverables needed to support the goals and strategies of internal/external communication plans and/or the marketing/communication initiatives developed to meet service line/business unit goals across the ministry.
Collaborates with marketing and communications team members, health system stakeholders, physicians, leaders and external partners to write/develop communications that support the ministry as well as our system marketing and communications goals and objectives.
Monitors, develops and facilitates content for various digital communication platforms – including intranet, internet and social media.
Supports internal communication initiatives. Acts as content writer and editor for internal associate and physician communications, including e-newsletters and other internal communication channels. Tracks and monitors communication content calendars and project plans.
Maintains a highly responsive relationship with stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
Ensures consistent framing of messaging and refines core messaging in deliverables, supporting organizational consistency in all aspects of Ascension communications.
Monitors trends in best practices and collaborates with team members to advocate for and establish new ways of thinking.
Supports marketing and communications shared services leadership and staff to implement internal and external resources while customizing content to reflect the local market voice.
Uses appropriate metrics and measurement strategies to enable continuous improvement and ensures effective use of resources.
Researches, writes, edits and proofreads copy and other content consistent with approved key messages.
Qualifications:
The individual should:
Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills
Possess excellent editing and proofing skills
Possess proven project management capabilities
Be able to respond to requests and provide information on an as-needed basis to group members using own discretion regarding prioritization
Have a desire to learn in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
Previous experience in healthcare or interest in the field a plus
Previous experience with digital content/media a plus
What You Will Need:

Education:
High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree required.
Work Experience:
3 years of experience preferred.
Additional Preferences:
3 years of writing experience preferred
