Job Description : Project/Consultancy Title: Grant Writer for the Sunset Recreation CenterProject Location(s): Remote with some on-site work in Seaside, OregonBackground: In January 2021, the Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District purchased the Broadway Middle School property in the heart of Seaside, Oregon. The District has plans and has already begun the planning and best usage process to help accomplish the following objectives:1. Increase desperately needed childcare, preschool, and after-school activities2. Expand indoor recreation activities for all citizens3. Contribute to the local economy through a sports tourism strategyThe District is working collaboratively with the Sunset Park & Rec Foundation, a 501c3, to pursue grants and major sponsorship opportunities to fund the capital improvements necessary for the property to fulfill the objectives.Purpose / Project Description: The consultant will work collaboratively with the Foundation Board, District Staff, and District Board to pursue opportunities for funding. Funds raised will be set aside from the general operating budget of the building and be allocated for capital improvements.Consultant Objectives & Deliverables: 1. Deliver a 1-year grant strategy that:Incorporates staff and stakeholders input to identify priority projects best suited for grant fundingIncludes at least four Standard Proposal Outlines (SPO) for identified projects, including but not limited to: o Strategic goal of project o Need statement o Target beneficiaries o Objectives o Activities o Timeline o Evaluation/Success Metrics o CostDemonstrates research regarding potential donors and grants that are appropriate for each SPO2. Initiate or strengthen relationships with potential donors, including:Development of a donor database that includes key information such as contact person, grant submission deadlines, how priorities align with SEPRD and notes indicating contact and/or relationship with funder (including history of grants received)Submission of at least four grant proposals, based on one of the approved SPOs3. Maintain records and provide reporting:Store hard copies and maintain computer databaseProvide leadership with monthly progress report on grant activities4. If work is found to be satisfactory the consultant and District will mutually agree to continue the contract for an agreed upon length of time.Fee/Contract: The consultant will be paid $8,000 for the initial 3-month contract. At the end of the three-month contract, the fee may be renegotiated at the discretion of the consultant and District.The Consultant will report to: Skyler Archibald, Executive Director, SEPRDThe Consultant will work closely with: SEPRD Staff: Melissa Ousley, Darren Gooch, Levi Conner, Justin SmithFoundation Board Chair: Ashley FlukingerRequired Experience & Skills: – Bachelor’s degree in Non-Profit Management, Communication, Technical Writing, Journalism,English, or related fieldORAny equivalent combination of experience/training- Minimum of two (2) years of experience with successful writing of medium or large grants or proposals in local, state and/or federal non-profit or government space- Strong written communication skills’ ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals- Experience coordinating project or grant writing processes to include programmatic content, fiscal viability, and other administrative supports- Proficiency with measuring and reaching fundraising goals under a deadline- Excellent presentation skills, written communication, technical documentation1140 Broadway Seaside, OR 97138 | sunsetempire.com | (503) 738-3311Job Types: Part-time, Contract, TemporaryPay: $2,666.00 per monthWork Location: Multiple Locations
