Job Title: Security Guard – Night
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Safety/Security Coordinator
FLSA Status: Nonexempt – 12 month position
Salary Grade: 4B ($12.22-$14.06-$15.90)/hr.
Approved Date: 11/15/2019

SUMMARY

Guards St. Labre property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Indicates the non-essential duties and responsibilities. Nothing in this job description restricts St. Labre’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
Patrols buildings and grounds of St. Labre including airstrip and park.
Make rounds ensuring doors, windows, and gates are secure.
Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, speeding, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
Permits authorized persons to enter property.
Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.
Operates the Mt Alarm Security System.
Operates the Ready Key System for doors on campus
Reports all open doors, windows, and any incidents which may occur, to his or her supervisor.
Serves and enforces all Notice of Trespass documents against named individuals ordered off the premises by the Executive Director of St. Labre.
Assists local law enforcement when problems such as vandalism, substance abuse, domestic violence, and unacceptable behavior occurs in St. Labre housing units and or on campus.
Performs light assessment and notes dark areas or where lights have burned out.
Inputs work orders into the system for repair of various items encountered during shift.
Performs other functions as assigned by the Safety and Security Coordinator or day shift Security officer.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree GED; and one to six months related experience and or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Prior experience in law enforcement and or military background preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be reliable and trustworthy.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out duties.
Ability to deal with problems and situations.
Ability to read and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Respects the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ in private, personal, and public life.
Commitment to the mission of the Roman Catholic Church in Native American education.
Sensitivity to, and appreciation of Native American people and their cultures.
Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for students.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Montana driver’s license.
