We have served hundreds of government agencies, nonprofits, associations, and regulated industries in our more than 40‐year history. We take pride in our role as an independent, nonpartisan public policy consulting firm that is trusted, respected, and engaged in our community. We don’t just follow best practice, we create it. PSC strives for excellence in relationships with both clients and colleagues and was recognized as one of the Detroit Free Press Top Workplaces in 2020 and 2021, as well as a 2021 winner of Crain’s Business Detroit Cool Places to Work contest. Since our founding in 1979, PSC has built a reputation as the consulting firm of choice for anyone working to better people’s lives. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for residents of Michigan and beyond through the development and implementation of innovative, actionable public policies.PUBLIC POLICY MINORITY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMPublic Sector Consultants established a Public Policy Minority Fellowship Program in 2022. We aim to attract people who are racial or ethnic minorities with a passion for public policy and increase minority representation in public policy. We seek to positively impact the number of people who are racial or ethnic minorities entering the arena of public policy analysis and development, including government, for-prot, and nonprot organizations. For over 40 years, Public Sector Consultants has focused on serving the state of Michigan and its residents by contributing meaningfully to public policy discussions and decisions. Our outputs have historically centered on policy subjects that are broadly based and aimed at lifting up all residents. Efforts to better understand and/or improve recycling, economics and the state budget, special education, natural resource management and land use, health and human services, community development, and energy issues stretch back to PSC’s founding. Our thinking has evolved significantly on what it means and what it takes to actually lift all residents, but it is clear that a greater focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) must take place externally and internally. The firm has numerous project examples where operationalizing DEI is the goal or a critical part of its analysis.Internally, PSC works diligently at embedding DEI principles into operational and cultural systems and practices so that the lens remains a fixture in the company’s decision making. As part of this effort, PSC is launching its minority fellowship program, funding a full-time position of one year’s duration. We envision the identication of talent at Michigan colleges and universities. PSC may hire an individual from the talent pool who has recently completed a degree (baccalaureate or graduate) and is at the start of a career in public policy. After the fellow has worked at PSC for one year, PSC will aim to continue the fellow’s employment at PSC. However, PSC understands that our contribution to the community is bigger than ourselves, and fellows who choose to seek employment elsewhere will receive support from PSC with references and professional connections.WHY JOIN OUR TEAM?We know that employees want more than a job — they want to be part of a community. We offer opportunities to take on meaningful work, get involved in the community, grow professionally, and to learn from a diverse network of colleagues. Your time and talent make a difference beyond the office and extend into the community around you. For us, culture is a way of being, bringing our whole selves to work, and showing up for our colleagues — many of whom we call friends. We’re more than the work we do, and we’ve all got social, emotional, and physical lives that flourish with a healthy work‐life balance. At PSC, we understand that we benefit from the sum of our individual differences, self-expression, and life experiences. Our clients also benefit from having access to different perspectives and a broad range of problem-solving approaches.
