The Office of Child Welfare is seeking two receptionists – one to join our team in North Clackamas and one to join our team in Oregon City. This is a great chance to get your foot in the door at ODHS and discover the inner workings of the agency and the Child Welfare program. You will be part of an amazing and supportive team – we expect and give mutual support. If someone sees a need, staff are quick to assist and will often respond without being asked.

What you will be doing:
Receiving incoming calls, primarily from those reporting child abuse and/or neglect or those requesting services.
Obtaining/documenting information via phone and logging calls, then forwarding to screeners as appropriate.
Assessing crisis situations and routing calls to appropriate ODHS staff or emergency resource providers.
Accessing agency data systems to find case history information and relaying information to people involved in investigations.
Inputting data into the OR-Kids system.
Working conditions:
Work primarily occurs in the office, although occasional travel may be required for training or other business needs.
These positions require the incumbent to work a professional work week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., however working hours may vary. Occasional compensated overtime on nights and weekends may be required.
You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma, exhibit challenges in controlling their anger, or other unexpected emotions impacted by drug use, cognitive impairments, or other factors.
What you need to qualify:
Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents.
OR
An associate’s degree.
OR
Graduation from a private school of business with a certificate AND one year of general clerical experience.

Demonstrated ability to write using plain language with minimal spelling or grammar issues.
Demonstrated ability to work successfully independently and with a team (able to form good working relationships with others).
Demonstrated ability to prioritize work while dealing with competing deadlines.
Experience using the MS Office suite of products.
Knowledge, education, or training surrounding the impacts of trauma.
