Position : Early Childhood Education Instructor

Job Description : Description: Under the supervision of the Dean of CTE, the Early Childhood Education (ECE) instructor is responsible for teaching ECE courses that align with CGCC course outcome guides. The instructor is also responsible for performing other instruction-related activities including course planning, assessment and evaluation.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Serve as adjunct instructor for the Early Childhood Education program.Plan and teach classes as assigned. Course shall align with CGCC course outcome guides as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi.Supervise the study and learning activities of students assigned.Conduct regular assessment of course content and delivery as well as overall program effectiveness.Evaluate the academic progress of students.Demonstrate knowledge of services, regulations and procedures as defined in the Faculty Handbook.Submit course grades and performing other administrative duties as required.Submit requests for equipment, supplies, textbooks and other instructional aides through department Dean, program coordinator or lead instructor.Participate as a team member at faculty in-service, in departmental meetings and planning activities.Schedule two office hours per week. For extenuating circumstances in which office hours cannot be scheduled, the adjunct faculty will submit a written plan to the department Dean describing how students can access the instructor.The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. Requirements: REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in the subject area (or a master’s degree in a related area, plus 30 quarter hours of upper division credit in the subject area) and have a minimum of three years of recent full-time non-teaching experience in the subject area, orBachelor’s degree in the subject area (or hold a bachelor’s degree in a related area, plus 30 quarter hours of upper division credit in the subject area) and have a minimum of 4 years of recent full-time non-teaching experience in the subject area, orAssociate of applied science degree in the subject area, and have a minimum of 5 years of full-time non-teaching experience in the subject area, orDemonstrated competency in the subject area and have a minimum of 5 years of recent full-time non-teaching experience.PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in Early Childhood EducationRecent experience working in the fieldExperience teaching adults online and in-personKnowledge of NAEYC StandardsBilingualREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Thorough understanding of the curriculum in assigned instructional area.Knowledge of instructional delivery, the elements of effective teaching and learning, and the principles of adult education.Ability to communicate effectively.Ability to work cooperatively with staff, faculty, and students.Ability to work independently.Strong commitment to student success.Strong commitment to innovation, collaboration, and quality.Ability to stay current in the field through professional development and self-study.Ability to use computer technology for communication and instructional purposes.OTHER POSITION INFORMATION: Adjunct positions remain open at the department’s discretion. The number of adjuncts hired is determined by needs of the college. The college will refer to the active pool and contact applicants directly when openings become available.
