Job Description : About the Role:

Come join our team in Big Sky as a Real Estate Lender. This position is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans. Specific focus will be on obtaining loan applications, business development, interviewing clients, analyzing financial and related data, determining appropriate pricing and loan structure and making appropriate loan decisions. Requires knowledge and exercises all regulatory and compliance guidelines. Must be team and sales oriented and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public and other employees. Self-starter with ability to adapt to change, work under pressure and attention to detail. Position that requires great customer service skills, positive attitude and expressed enthusiasm.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interviews loan applicants, analyze credit worthiness and reach accurate credit decisions.
Responsible for all aspects of loan application, processing and closing. These tasks include insuring that all government, secondary market, and bank policies are adhered to; acceptable title insurance, appraisals, credit reports, etc. are received; loans are closed and delivered to their ultimate destination in a timely manner.
Monitors and acts appropriately on past due loans to insure compliance with the bank’s goals.
Generates and fully completes the mortgage loan applications. Works with a loan process/closer/underwriter to complete all documentation required for loan approval as quickly as possible. Makes sure details on loan documentation are complete and correct prior to closing to insure accuracy and are in compliance with state and federal regulations, bank policy and compliance regulations.
Active in calling on existing customers, prospective customers, and various community organizations in order to professionally represent the bank and insure its continued good standing and growth in the communities we serve.
Demonstrates knowledge on current loan programs, and lending (federal and state) regulations as well as all compliance and bank policies and procedures.
Responsible for compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) including providing all required information to be registered in the state of Montana MLO registry.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training for courses and achieve a passing score by due date.
Responsible for maintaining loan quality in compliance with Bank policy, underwriting standards and documentation requirements.
Various other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
About You:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting and three years experience in real estate lending, processing, and supervision or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of three years Secondary Market Real Estate Lending experience.
Maintain a current registry record and identifying number with the National Mortgage Licensing System (including submitting personal information and fingerprints for a criminal background check).
Must reside in the Big Sky community.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:
The applicant must have real estate lending knowledge and experience.
Strong understanding and knowledge of financial institution products and services.
Demonstrated ability to research, interpret and apply laws, rules and policies to bank lending.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in handling confidential and sensitive information.
This position may require work outside normal banking hours, and travel.
Must be willing to represent the bank in a positive manner at all times.
Must have a strong understanding of all bank functions and operations.
Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Must possess excellent computer skills.
Must be capable of a high volume workload while maintaining positive inter-personal relations within the bank staff, existing customers, new customers, and the community in general.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.

The employee may also be required to: Must be capable of up to 10% travel (e.g. 2 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.
Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
