LOCATIONS: District Wide

Whitefish School District is seeking a Technology Integration Specialist to work with staff and students district wide. We are looking for a Technology Integration Specialist to join one of the leading school districts in the state of Montana. SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:

Work with the Director of Technology to help implement a district technology integration approach using the following resources and approaches:

Individual Meetings with Teachers
In-Class Participation
Professional Development Planning
Research and Application of new Technologies
Creation of Training Materials
General IT support, including supporting the Technology Help Desk

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Whitefish Public Schools seeks candidates with strong character, passion for excellence and a relentless commitment to student achievement. Applicants should also meet the following requirements):

Valid Montana Teaching Certificate or eligible for a Montana Teaching Certificate
A bachelor’s degree in a related computer field or teaching degree. Specific training in computer science or its use in the educational setting is required.
An understanding of appropriate uses of technology in the educational setting.
In depth knowledge of a wide range of technologies used in K – 12 school districts such as: Chromebooks, interactive whiteboards, tablets, robotics, 3D printers, AR/VR, educational apps and district software.
Ability to communicate effectively and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, teachers, support staff, and supervisors.
Professional development experience educating teachers or other adults in the integration of technology for instruction and productivity.
Strong initiative and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful experience as a classroom teacher.
Graduate Degree or other advanced education in Instructional and/or Assistive Technology preferred.
Experience delivering and integrating technology in instructional programs for K – 12 students.
An understanding of key learning theories and methods of instruction, and their relation to technology integration.
Competency in Chromebook and iPad functionality and use.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):

Collaborates with teachers in composing effective technology-infused, content-based lessons, and supports the teachers as they implement the lessons in their classrooms.
Promotes model instructional practices and the role of technology in them.
Create learning resources for teachers, staff and students. These may include web sites, tutorials and instructional videos that support teachers in integrating technology. Ideally, teachers will be guided and encouraged to develop their own resources, while the Technology Integration Specialist will continue to provide additional support as needed.
Provides assistance and training to school instructional staff in the integration of technology to support student achievement. This includes planning and implementing professional development opportunities for individuals, small groups, and large groups.
Collaborates in the evaluation, selection and implementation of instructional technology materials and software.
Assists with technology training as part of collaborative school district staff development initiatives.
Gathers and disseminates information (e.g., grants, policies, professional development opportunities) relevant to instructional technology.
Participates in ongoing professional development related to job responsibilities and maintaining expertise in the field.
Supports community technology awareness initiatives.
Works with the rest of the technology team to provide general IT support and troubleshooting for district devices and staff (no major repair work or network infrastructure experience required).
Part of the general IT support requires participating in monitoring the Technology Help Desk, documenting new incidents and service requests as well as providing answers/fixes to tickets.

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This type of work involves walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods of time as required by situations of job position. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral and written information, the manual dexterity to move related equipment, and the skills necessary to handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.May be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

School year working days as set by the Board of Trustees. Salary, benefits and other working conditions as negotiated between the Whitefish School District and Whitefish Education Association and as assigned by the administration.

Performance of said duties will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
