Job Description : Rogue Valley Transportation District Job Description December 2021 Job Title: Accounting Specialist IDepartment: FinanceReports To: Finance ManagerFLSA Status: Non-ExemptWage Range: $28.62-$34.82 SUMMARY Under general direction of the Finance Manager, this position may be responsible for payables, receivables, payroll, procurement logistics, Touchpass and various administrative/accounting record-keeping and clerical duties.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following. Other duties/responsibilities may be assigned.Processes accounts payable and prints checks and reports.Procurement contracts, project, RFPS, Quotes, bids. Review and award of contracts, Annual contract updates, recurring PO’s annually, new PO’s, PO approval process and in some cases requisitions.Processes accounts receivable, prepares cash deposits, keeps ledgers up to date, and reconciles bank statements as needed.Processes, prints and distributes payroll checks and reports, including quarterly state and federal payroll, workers’ compensation, W-2 and 1099 report forms.Processes insurance and other benefit forms for new employees.Verifies bills from suppliers for accuracy.Creates/compiles various monthly/daily and other reports, i.e., sales, farebox revenue.Handle Touchpass sales, reports, billing of sales to other merchant portals and inventory of fare products, token, script and other miscellaneous items.Reconciles deposits coming from Front Street station.Assists with counting and deposits of farebox revenue as needed.Assures all duties are performed in a manner that will be compliant with laws and collective bargaining agreement.Assists with general administration duties, such as answering telephones, greeting customers, processing in and outgoing mail, and filing.Performs other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Three to Five years experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and other accounting functions, and other clerical duties. Knowledge and experience with computers, windows and spreadsheet applications, software, and telephone systems.LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
