What you will be doing:
Seeking out relative caregivers, resource parents, and adoptive parents that represent all ethnic and cultural groups within the community.
Developing targeted recruitment strategies for resource and adoptive parents and helping people explore opportunities within the Child Welfare program.
Providing orientation and training to applicant families.
Assessing families’ abilities to provide safe environments and meet the permanency needs of children through interviews, observations, home visits, and other methods within the SAFE Home Study model.
Assisting caseworkers in placement matching of children, resource families, and adoptive families.
Preparing families for placement and connecting them with caregiving support groups and other resources.
Providing ongoing feedback, assistance, and support to resource and adoptive families.
Maintaining case files and other records.
Working conditions:
Employee’s work may be conducted in offices, participant’s homes, and other community sites.
Travel is required for this position, at times during inclement weather.
Typical working hours are between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., but occasional paid overtime may be required on nights and weekends. You will be expected to be on call on an ongoing basis.
You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma, exhibit challenges in controlling their anger, or other unexpected emotions impacted by drug use, cognitive impairments, or other factors.
What you need to qualify:
A bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human services.
OR
A bachelor’s degree unrelated to human services, and either:
1) One year of human services-related experience, OR
2) Completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon caseworker competency .
OR
An associate degree and either:
1) Two years of human services-related experience, OR
2) One year of human services-related experience and related training, coursework or certification consistent with Oregon caseworker competency .
This position requires a valid driver license and acceptable driving record.

Failure to maintain residency in Malheur County for this period shall be considered a voluntary termination from the position.
