This is one, regular, full-time position located in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE).
This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies.
This position is represented by Oregon Public Safety Association.

Employees who are Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS; the salary range noted above reflects base salary only.
About DPSST:
The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) oversees the development of professional standards and the delivery of quality training for law enforcement officers, corrections officers, parole and probation officers, firefighters, telecommunicators, and emergency medical dispatchers. DPSST is also the regulatory agency that enforces employment and training standards for the above listed public safety disciplines and licenses proprietary security managers, security contractors and officers, polygraph examiners, and private investigators.
What you will be doing:
Develop and implement compliance standards and procedures in support of the agency, and the private security, private investigator licensure program, including the elements of education, assistance, and enforcement of Oregon laws for private security providers and private investigators licensed to work or provide services in Oregon.

Working Conditions:
Some overnight travel required that might require traveling at night or in severe weather conditions. Overtime may be required during peak workloads. Frequent person-to-person contact with constituents, some of whom will be frustrated or angry. Frequent fieldwork requiring visitation to places of business, courts, personal residences. Frequently subjected to working from laptop computer out of a vehicle or hotel room. Frequent examination of documents and records.

Minimum Qualifications:
Five years’ experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action, or decide compliance or eligibility with program guidelines and regulations. Three of the five years must be above the technical support level.

College-level course work may substitute for experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year, up to a maximum of three years.

Extensive experience interpreting, applying, and enforcing laws, rules, and regulations.
Impressive ability fact-finding information for backgrounds or formal investigative files
Long-term experience obtaining information from a variety of databases, computer programs, software, and compiling the information into a logical report
Vast experience and expertise reviewing complex documents for accuracy
Strong ability to work well under stress, time pressures, and in a fast-paced office setting. Including highly skilled in time-management, ability to plan and prioritize workload based on program needs and assignments, organized with a strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and ability to work independently and efficiently with little supervision
Excellent interpersonal skills and works collaboratively with others
Preference may be given to those with current LEDS certification
