Job Description : JOB POSTING FOR LEWIS AND CLARK COUNTYPosition Title: Cemetery LaborerOrganization: Lewis and Clark County, Forestvale CemeteryPay Rate: $16.98 to $17.98 per hourPosition Type/Status: Permanent, Full-time, Non-ExemptClosing Date: April 5, 2022Who We AreThe cemetery is located near Helena, Lewis & Clark County, Montana about two and a half miles north of the city limits. The Cemetery consists of 148 acres with about 40 acres currently developed. It has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.Helena civil engineer Harry Wheeler designed Forestvale incorporating the notion of the cemetery as a “rural park” into his design. Mature trees, well-planned landscaping, tree-lined paths, beautiful monuments, a mausoleum, columbarium’s, and arbor gardens grace this beautiful cemetery in the heart of Montana. Look here to learn more and see if you may qualify!https://fed-pro.org/public-service/Other BenefitsIncludes:Working in a fast-paced environmentProfessional development and training opportunitiesCost of living increasesMarket adjustmentsStep based wage increasesPaid parental leavePosition Description SummaryUnder general supervision of the Cemetery Supervisor, this position performs cemetery ground and building maintenance and repair duties.DutiesPerforms cemetery maintenance, and repair duties;Performs landscape duties including, but not limited to, tree trimming, tree planting, brush and weed control, laying sod, seeding, and spraying weeds and landscape planning;Performs road maintenance duties;Maintains and repairs sprinkler system and responsible for blowing out sprinklers for the season;Operates backhoe and other equipment;Minor equipment repairs;Uses hand tools;Performs routine building maintenance duties including but not limited to painting, changing filters, and cleaning restrooms and other areas;Sets up and tears down for funerals;Assists other grounds crew staff with various tasks;May direct seasonal groundskeepers;Performs other duties as assigned.Examples of KnowledgeKnowledge of Lewis and Clark County policies and procedures;Forestvale Cemetery policies and procedures;Knowledge of safety regulations and requirements;Knowledge of methods, practices, and procedures for backhoe operation and grounds maintenance;Knowledge of weed control practices and procedures;Knowledge of equipment operations and maintenance procedures.Examples of Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to operate equipment, including hand tools, lawn mowers, chain saws and weed eaters;Ability to operate backhoes;Ability to apply herbicides according to regulations;Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions;Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;Ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, and citizens.Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and one (1) year grounds maintenance or backhoe experience. Must have or obtain pesticide applicator certification within one (1) year of hire.
