This is a unique opportunity to be at the helm of an organization that harnesses the power of collective giving to tackle some of the most challenging issues facing women, girls, and femmes, as WFO evolves in new and exciting ways to work at the intersection of racial and gender justice.The Executive Director will oversee all operational and administrative functions of an organization with over $4M in assets and will build and lead a small team of passionate professionals. This individual will collaborate with the Board and staff to develop strategies for implementing the organization’s mission and vision through values-aligned partnerships and projects, and through building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This work will include cultivating and sustaining relationships with communities most impacted by gender and racial oppression, centering and elevating the voices of those most impacted, and ensuring the Foundation is informed, engaged, and responsive to community issues.At this exciting stage of WFO’s trajectory, the Executive Director will lead WFO as the organization continues to grow and respond to community and stakeholder needs. This is a phenomenal opportunity for a visionary, strategic, and hands-on leader to lead the redistribution and reinvestment of wealth back into communities from whom it was extracted, and to create real social change that leads to better lives and healthier communities.Candidate ProfileThe Executive Director of Women’s Foundation of Oregon will possess the following attributes and competencies:Passion for Mission & Commitment to Advancing Equity, Racial and Gender JusticeThe Executive Director will have a passion for WFO’s mission and a deep commitment to racial and gender justice. This leader will bring a proven track record of recognizing and addressing bias and deep understanding of oppression including but not limited to racism, anti-Blackness, anti-indigeneity, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, and ableism including a strong understanding of disability justice and access awareness. The Executive Director will have experience building and sustaining inclusive work environments that embrace authenticity and diversity, that value the wisdom of lived experience, and that reflect the communities served. Dedicated to WFO’s values, this individual will have the ability to operationalize these values, decolonize funding practice, and redistribute unjustly hoarded resources.Strategic & Visionary LeadershipThe Executive Director will be a visionary and pragmatic leader with the courage to adapt and innovate while remaining grounded in WFO’s mission and vision, modeling its values, and working alongside staff to achieve its goals. This individual will bring an understanding of what it means to lead an organization during a time of transformation and change, and will be comfortable with shared governance and leadership. Forward-thinking, the Executive Director will bring a vision for engaging a community affected by the colonization of dollars and land, and will be able to boldly move the Foundation to its next chapter. This individual will have the ability to confront the complex realities of the environment and simultaneously maintain faith in a different and better future, providing purpose, direction, and motivation.Organizational Development & ExcellenceThe Executive Director will bring experience developing an organization while applying an equity lens. This individual will understand and be able to build the infrastructure and support systems needed for staff to thrive in service of WFO’s mission. An inclusive, transparent, and unifying manager with a shared leadership style, the Executive Director will build trust with staff and establish clarity on roles, responsibilities, and targeted outcomes. This individual will demonstrate the ability to build, nurture, and retain a strong team of diverse professionals, as well as foster a collegial, inclusive, and family-friendly work environment that encourages creativity and productivity and ensures staff feel respected, valued, and successful. The Executive Director will bring an equitable, collaborative, and thoughtful approach to conflict, problem-solving, and decision-making.Excellent Communication & Relationship Building SkillsServing as a passionate ambassador for WFO, the Executive Director will be able to thoughtfully and strategically articulate, and motivate a diverse range of stakeholders around the Foundation’s mission, vision, and values. This natural relationship builder will excel at collaborating with the Board, Board committees, staff, and community representatives in business, government, grassroots, advocacy, and other non-profits to craft engagement and fundraising strategies that maximize WFO’s positive impact in the community.
