Description/Qualifications:
Your Role With Us:
You will be responsible for the smooth and timely flow of processing patient specimens for multiple clinical disciplines. You will frequently use your excellent communication skills with clients, providers, and other hospital staff to answer questions about laboratory testing and processes. Occasionally you will be asked to be able to perform some light physical work which includes sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time. Lifting generally consists of items weighing less than 40 pounds. In addition you may have occasional exposure to infectious specimens, as well as other infectious and hazardous materials.
Core Functions:
Assists in the development of policies, procedures, processes, performance improvement and quality assurance in accordance with accreditation requirements.
Effectively prioritizes work so that efficiency is optimal and turnaround time expectations are continually met. Flexibility in tasks and bench assignments exhibited as workload requires.
Resolves technical problems without delay. Demonstrates good working knowledge of web based programs.
Verifies and documents satisfactory equipment operation. Is responsible for maintaining equipment and notification of manager or supervisor in a timely manner of problems with equipment.
Monitors supplies and ensures their availability and use in a cost-conscious manner to minimize operating expenses. Communicates issues to manager or supervisor as they arise.
Follows infection control procedures to ensure a safe work environment. Follows prescribed safety techniques to maintain personal and co-worker safety (wears and appropriately uses personal protective equipment per hospital and department policy as required.)
Meets established continuing education requirements.
Participates in assigned quality assurance and performance improvement activities required to maintain the established standard of discipline performance.
Receives, records, and relays messages accurately and in a timely manner. Efficiently resolves or directs complaints to manager or supervisor.
Demonstrates knowledge in and compliance with the Hospital Safety Management Program
Supervises Access Services staff ensuring that service expectations are consistently met.
Ensures patients are registered courteously, accurately and in a timely manner.
Background/Expertise
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of one (1) year of related experience in either a clinical, medical office, or research setting is strongly desired.
Must be prepared with work in a role which may require evening, weekend or holiday work.
Experience in working successfully within a team setting.
Experience with a Laboratory Information System is desired.
