Providence is calling Patient Escorts to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. We have full and part-time, benefited positions available. Shifts available are day, evening and night. Shifts are aligned to a rotating schedule and require weekend and holiday availability. Starting pay for this position is $16.83 per hour and increases based on experience.

We are seeking a Patient Escort who will be responsible for patient safety and comfort while transporting throughout the campus. Exemplifies service excellence standards when interacting with patients, families, and visitors.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Must be competent in the interpretation of a patient’s self-report or behavior, this information must be interpreted with an understanding of cognitive, physical, emotional/psychosocial and chronological maturation process
Transport is individualized and reflects understanding of the patient needs
Provide safe and timely transport of patients throughout the campus
Ensure patient satisfaction by listening to patients / family requesting information, asking questions, and solving problems
Report observations/information relevant to patient’s status or condition to patient’s nurse or other health care personnel directly involved
Respond to emergent patient situations promptly and appropriately, demonstrating knowledge and confidence
Take responsibility for infection control by understanding the principles of isolation procedure, cross contamination and infection vectors, and the role played by transporters in the prevention of nosocomial infections
Comply with isolation and equipment disinfecting techniques
Help maintain patient care equipment inventory in Transportation Department:
Return equipment upon request or during routine collection trips
Clean equipment as required
Identify and notify manager of equipment needing repair
Check areas for equipment and maintains specific inventory each shift
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Able to be certified in Adult and Infant Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within one (1) month
Experience with computers
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Two (2) years experience working in the healthcare field with patient contact and trained in proper patient transfer techniques -OR- in a customer service position/field
