WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Apprentice/Journeyman Carman, will learn and be responsible for all aspects and projects pertaining to the maintenance and repair of freight cars.
LOCATION: Laurel, MT
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Learn how to inspect, repair, fabricate, assemble, maintain, dismantle for repair and upgrade freight cars
Learn the air brake systems of cars, as well as how to provide appropriate wrecking services at derailment sites
Must complete and pass lessons as assigned. Journeyman status will be attained upon the successful completion of the apprenticeship requirements.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be safety conscious and capable of cultivating work practices that will contribute to the achievement of company safety goals
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license
Must demonstrate ability to communicate and relate well with supervisors, peers and subordinates
Desire and ability to learn the FRA and AAR guidelines specific to this craft
Aptitude to learn and operate equipment used in the daily operation of this position
Mechanical and/or welding skills preferred
Available to work all shifts, includes nights and weekends
Team player with positive attitude
Self-starter willing to devote necessary time and effort to ensure safety and productivity goals and all regulations are met or exceeded
