Job Description : Director of Education ServicesDouglas Education Service District230 days / 8 hours per day / 5 days per weekJOB SUMMARY: This position is an administrative role that partners and coordinates with colleagues within the Education Services Department, and other departments at the Douglas ESD in an effort to provide a seamless system of support to Douglas County districts, schools, statewide education agencies, and local community partners. The goal is to provide a healthy, vibrant, and networked educational ecosystem that provides dynamic, supportive, and engaging learning environments where all students can thrive and create a plan and path for their future.DUTIES: This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.Supports, assists, collaborates, and leads education services administrators in assuring high quality programing for professional learning, technical assistance for state initiatives, and youth development.Assists in aligning education services across the spectrum and consistent with the Douglas ESDs strategic plan.Participates in strategic planning and visioning with all stakeholders and in gaining buy-in and support of vision and goals.Provides leadership in helping education services teams analyze data to inform best practice and develop systemic responses to improve academic and social growth for all students.Leads planning, developing, and delivering staff professional development in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.Creates a customer service culture that ensures the operational program is responsive and sensitive to the needs of students, districts, and community partners.Develops meaningful and active relationships with partners programs and overall community engagement with ongoing school improvement efforts for school districts.Leads department budget preparation and in assuring that the department operates in conformance with the approved budget and financial control requirements.Ability to supervise, recruit and evaluate staff.SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: This is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.A current Oregon administrators license or eligibility to obtain the licensure is required. At least five years of administrative experience required. Masters degree in education or related field, or equivalent experience.Understanding of Oregons system of education service districts and how they support local school districts and the Oregon Department of Education.

Recent experience in K-12 education as a state, regional, and/or school district administrator and grant program management with increasing levels of responsibility is required. Must also have a demonstrated ability to participate effectively as an administrative team member.
