Job Description : The School of Social Work at Wayne State University (WSU) in Detroit, Michigan is committed to its urban mission. We invite applications for a Research Assistant to provide administrative support to the pilot project- Enhancing and Expanding the Behavioral Health Workforce. The goal of the project is to enhance and expand the behavioral health workforce. We are looking for an outstanding candidate with lived experience in behavioral health and/or criminal/legal systems and commitment to community engagement.

Essential Functions:

Recruits potential research study participants.

Provides research study information and explains research protocol.

Obtains informed consents from potential research study participants.

Collects data from potential research study participants by conducting interviews, providing questionnaires and co-facilitating focus groups.

Ensures completeness and accuracy of data collected. This position will support areas of the project to develop organization mechanisms that will financially and structurally support the formal education, licensure and stability of current peers to fill the need for open and future positions.

This position will inform curriculum and policy development; and create strong links to other departments and colleges.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Associates or Bachelor’s Degree (in progress or obtained)

Work experience as a Peer Support Specialist.

Work hours will vary depending on grant activities and university calendar. Expectation is 10-16 hours per week.
