Job Description : Lab Technician Full-TimeRodda Paint – 6123 N. Our Lab Technicians work closely with the R&D Chemists and the Color Lab. Technicians are responsible for making and testing laboratory batches of industrial and architectural coatings as specified by our Chemists.This position requires Technicians to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines and use good scientific practices and procedures. This position provides assistance to Quality Control when needed.Paid Time Off (Sick Time / Vacation)401k w/ employer matchMedical/Rx, dental & vision insuranceCompany sponsored profit sharingResponsibilitiesSupport Chemist and Color Lab on projects; Perform testing as specified and report results, maintain project fileMaintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and laboratory cleanliness.Possess and demonstrate a collaborative, positive attitude with fellow Rodda employees, maintain good relations with Chemists, Quality Control, Manufacturing, vendors, suppliers, and other outside industry contactsDemonstrate respectful and inclusive treatment of others which embodies our Workplace Fairness programQualifications / Requirements1-3 years’ experience in the Coatings field or a closely aligned industry is preferredChemistry/science background, high school or junior college levelPunctual attendance required; scheduling must remain flexible & available given the needs of the business and in support of the of the R&D Production Groups.Mathematical skills: Advanced including algebra; adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Understanding of measuresand weights.Operational knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook. Develops needed computer, in using programs such as formulation & color computer software, etc.; verbal communication: Fully conversant (speaking, listening), fluent in English; Reading and writing skills: Proficient in reading and writing documents in standard English textEfficient documentation, data accumulation and observation skillsDemonstrate an ability and interest in advancing skills and learning new technology; creative thinker, self-motivated and self-startingDemonstrates safe laboratory work practicesPhysical Requirements: The work environment consists of physical conditions typical of a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
