Job Description : Black Butte Ranch’s setting (located in Central Oregon) is pristine with seven of the Cascade’s high mountain peaks, stands of towering Ponderosa pines, whispering groves of Aspens and abundant wildlife. As our Natural Resources Manager, this is your office!The Natural Resource Manager will oversee the management and stewardship of all Black Butte Ranch natural resources, including preparation and monitoring of natural resource management plans and wildfire mitigation.This position encompasses natural resource responsibilities for common, public and private areas, lot certification in support of wildfire mitigation, waterway and lake management, goose management to include but not limited to hazing, counts, locates, exclusion methods and controls. Meadow maintenance to include, monitoring grazing and adjustments related to pasture health, general meadow maintenance, fencing installation, maintenance and repairs. Noxious weeds, plant identification and various control methods.Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Natural Resources, Forest Management and Meadow Study Committees.In collaboration with Director of Facilities, develop annual natural resources budget and individual special funded project budgets, prepare reports and provide up to date information on current spending and end of year forecasts.Monitor and document noxious weed locations and effectiveness in control methods.Monitor and document water features for changes, maintenance of temperature readers and control measures.Safe handling and applications of common herbicides.Research and complete grant applications for natural resource and wildfire mitigation related funding.Work collaboratively with CEO, Facilities Director, ARC (Architectural Review Committee) Chair, NRC (Natural Resources Committee) Chair and committee members.Manage wildfire mitigation program components in collaboration with CEO, Facilities Director, ARC, NRC, BBR Fire and Police and outside agencies.Establish wildfire mitigation communication and education plan for homeowners, guests and staff.Manage homeowner lot certification and code enforcement for natural resources and wildfire mitigation.Track SB 762 regarding defensible space requirements and ensure BBR’s input into the process.Participate in the BBR Emergency Preparedness program and planning, working collaboratively with the CEO, BBR Fire and BBR Police.Provide superior levels of assistance and guidance to homeowner and volunteer groups.Development and maintain various documents and spreadsheets using programs such as Word, Excel and mapping.Safely operate and maintain various manual and mechanized handheld cutting tools and equipment.Specific Job Skills:Physical ability to work under regular and recurring exposure to adverse weather conditions and to risks associated with field activities. Fieldwork may require working under adverse environmental and climatic conditions (e.g., extreme heat or cold, high winds, and dust).Plant identification and associated control methods.Knowledge of fire fuel reduction.Ability to professionally interact with guests, homeowners and employees.Writing skills necessary to complete Grant Applications.Ability to wear PP&E equipment.Education and/or Experience:Associates degree considered, B.S., Natural Resources preferredOregon pesticide applicators license preferredExperience and technical skills in natural resources management work such as habitat restoration, fire fuel reduction, waterway maintenance and restoration and erosion control.Management, budgeting and project planning experience.Superior communication skills (both written and verbal).Valid OR driver’s license in good standing.Job Type: Full-time
