Job Description : Overview: The Head of Production (HP) is responsible for the entire production team; ensuring completion of each project on time, on budget, and with the highest level of quality. The HP will represent the Company for all production related matters, both client and company satisfaction is the goal. This position highly focuses on managing people and processes. A good combination of home improvement knowledge & experience, as well as business & operational experience, is required to successfully fulfill this role. This position reports directly to the General Manager and is also a member of the company’s Management Team.There are three primary roles of a Head of Production, which include:1. Team LeaderBuilding and supporting the production team. Boost morale and encourage success. Determine who is best suited for specific projects and assign those project managers accordingly. Hold project managers accountable for budgets and schedules. Oversee all projects and monitor job progress, quality, safety, cleanliness, site security, and addressing any concerns. Hold production staff accountable for their actions and performance; formally addressing any issues which may arise. Ensures that the necessary Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are developed and that production employees have been fully trained to meet company operational standards. Hold weekly production meetings with the production team.2. Client Focused CommunicationResponsible for resolving client issues to full satisfaction of the client. Responsible for overseeing process(es) that involve any changes to a project, such as change orders, revised material orders, revising estimates for change in the budget. The ability to be relational when it comes to our clients, focusing on their specific needs, to maintain communication throughout the duration of their project. Being proactive in communication with the team to demonstrate an effective Head of Production / client relationship, resulting in satisfied client(s). Responsible for maintaining the 24-hour company phone, used by clients for emergencies. Attend follow up closing appointments with clients when jobs close, to gain feedback and general knowledge of how the project was executed. Attend project debrief meetings to gain knowledge on how the job performed financially.3. Job Costing / Budget / Accounts ReceivableMost critically, being responsible for timely payment schedules of active jobs and relaying that to the management team. Communicating with the accounting department, on when payments will be made by clients. Bring actual job costs into line with estimated job costs. Identify cost concerns early on. Monitoring COGS and labor costs for accuracy, specifically payroll and subcontracting costs. Oversee the approval process of subcontractor invoices for payment. Have a thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and practices and an understanding of the importance of the way in which all financials impact the overall success of the company.Primary Responsibilities of the Head of Production include:Job planning, review job binder prior to job commencement, for accuracyReview preliminary job schedule and subcontractor scope of work, assist, when necessary, on job scheduling.Meet with project managers, designers, clients, and other staff at all phases of the project to cover materials, safety, schedule, quality, lead times, questions, etc.Evaluate and revise estimates prior to start of constructionOversee the scheduling of trade contractors by project managersResponsible for the scheduling of all warranty workDaily check on progress of in-house personnel, subcontractors, materials, budget, job site cleanliness, etc.Weekly meetings with the production team to discuss communication with clients, schedules, performance, budgets, payments, etc.Regular ongoing quality control at each job site, ensuring project managers are holding trade partners accountable for their quality of work, schedules, etc.Meet twice weekly with the management team to discuss ongoing business development such as, policies and procedures to maintain and improve the company, such as cost savings, client relations, communications, self and team improvement, morale, etc.Responsible for the completion of the WIP report (est. cost to complete) and work closely with the accounting department on the month end production reports.Work closely with Remodelers Advantage and a roundtable of colleagues to develop strategies and execute plans of action to ensure profitability on all projects.Analyzing estimate vs. actual budget costsAttend meetings as necessary0-50% travel may be required.Qualifications:5 years of full time, hands-on experience in residential remodeling / construction is highly preferred, OR a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or other related field such as business, economics is highly preferred. Experience in an operational supervisory or management role with demonstrated leadership skills strongly preferred.The Head of Production is required to interact with other managers, employees, vendors, trade partners, and clients. Therefore, the following skills and proficiencies are also essential requirements of the position:Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
