Description/Qualifications:

Your Role With Us:
As the Unit Clerk, you provide clerical support and ensure timely, efficient, and organized flow of operations for the assigned clinical area. You’ll come in frequent contact with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians. This position provides ancillary, clerical, and clinical support to appropriate technical staff in Imaging.
Core Functions:
Assists technologists in organizing workflow by communicating clearly and courteously with technologists, radiologists, receptionists, ordering physicians, and other Imaging department personnel to maintain efficient patient flow.
Demonstrates working knowledge of hospital and Imaging information systems pertinent to exam tracking, add-on patient confirmation, accessing patient information, and charge/billing support. Has a working knowledge of computer down time processes.
Operates the hospital telephone and paging systems using courteous and professional phone etiquette skills. Maintains open and positive communication with all hospital departments expediting patient needs and scheduling challenges.
Conducts pre-procedure preparation requirements and is able to communicate instructions accurately to physicians, hospital staff and patients.
Using strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, prioritizes work while assisting technologists with patient support requests (room set up, exam, patient positioning/lifting/transfers, lab or supply order entry, etc.). Manages assigned tasks without the need for constant and direct supervision.
Initiates appropriate plan of care to address holistic, age-specific needs and reflect the patient’s changing condition. Uses appropriate skills related to knowledge of specific age needs and behaviors when communicating with and treating patients.
Transports/escorts patients and/or supplies/lab specimens to and from nursing units, other Imaging departments, Emergency Department, front reception area, and other designated locations.
Informs the appropriate technologist when services are needed outside of the Imaging Department.
Assists in cleaning and stocking of exam rooms and equipment,. Orders appropriate supplies for the CT Department.
Background/Expertise:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred. Medical terminology class preferred.
Recent experience in acute care setting preferred.
Recent (within past two (2) years) experience in a medical environment required.
Previous experience in Imaging/Radiology required (CT preferred).
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required within three (3) months of hire date.
