As a Brand Creative Writer across North America (NA) geography, based in Portland, Oregon in the Nike North America Brand Creative Consumer Direct Studio, this role will be required to deliver work that aligns with both the consumer direct strategy and NA Brand creative functional goals.
The work in NA focuses on product and innovation storytelling, editorial, app and platform innovation & launches, and campaigns that go full end-to-end, working from concept to execution across all of our channels. The role is passionate about collaborating with creative and marketing teams but also working independently to craft brilliant copy that attracts, inspires, and advises consumers.
You’ve worked directly with designers, art directors, and other writers in the digital and physical space. Your portfolio shows an authoritative command of the English language and the ins and out of British English grammar. When it comes to copywriting, you know the rules, but also know when to break them to strengthen the message!
WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?
Partnering with the Consumer Direct Marketing team, you’ll work cross-functionally, writing copy for projects ranging from editorial work through brand moments, product and business drivers. Innovative thinking, strategy, and tactical member execution across our ecosystem that drive a full end-to-end Creative Offense where appropriate, always thinking on the next click. The work also includes: driving the full O2O connection with our physical stores. Your copy will be read by millions of consumers and athletes across the NA geo, so it will align with the Nike Brand Voice, in-house style guides, and seasonal directives. Ensure we speak with an authentic Nike Voice to our consumers in all communications.
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?
In this role, report directly to the Senior Narrative Director, and day-to-day collaborate with a team of art directors, designers, producers, and brand narrative writers to implement and deliver work against the annual concept map.
You’ll actively work across the Brand Creative network often collaborating with Global, Geo, and City Nike copywriters to ensure copy aligns with our brand voice and in-house guidelines.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING?
Bachelor of Arts in Writing, Communications, Journalism, or related field or a combination of education and proven experience and training.
5+ years writing experience in a corporate or agency environment, preferably as a copywriter for a major retailer, e-commerce company, or digital communications agency.
2+ years experience writing consumer-facing marketing content, including digital communications (website copy, emails, social media, etc.)
Expert-level ability to write in long and short-form writing, as well as experience writing compelling and conceptual creative copy for products, brands, campaigns, and digital platforms.
Understanding of the nuances across all digital social landscapes and speaking to the audiences appropriately (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
A style of writing that embraces a tone of encouragement, authenticity, and freshness, being able to embody Nike’s voice and tone.
Ability to work on tight timelines, quick changes, and across teams and workstreams, communicating cross-functionally, and collaborating with multiple teams.
