Catherine’s mission of providing high quality, affordable and compassionate health care starts the moment that a patient walks in the door or picks up the phone. This is a 0.6 FTE position, scheduled to work 3 full days/week. The receptionist will have the opportunity to work with the rest of our amazing team to ensure that all members of the community needing health care can meet with a provider as soon as necessary.Job SummaryThe Front Office Receptionist will work with a lively team to ensure an efficient and positive experience for patients. Responsibilities will include greeting patients, patient registration, answering phones, scheduling appointments, patient check out, insurance verification and records processing. The front office team upholds Catherine’s values by building relationships based on integrity and honesty, serving the community with a commitment to excellence, treating patients and visitors with respect and dignity, and enhancing professional skills to foster stewardship.Primary Location: Catherine’s Health Center at Streams of Hope (280 60th St SE #200, Grand Rapids, MI)Schedule: M-F 3 days/week – open to discussionPosition Supervisor : Practice ManagerDescription of Duties/ResponsibilitiesGreet and direct patients in a friendly and respectful mannerRegister new patients, access patient files, and schedule appointments with several providersAnswer and transfer phones on a multi-line phone systemContact patients via phone and make follow-up calls as necessaryProcess patient check-ins and check-outsVerify insurance and other patient informationHandle patient information with confidentialityMinimum Position Qualifications1 year experience in medical office (preferred)1 year experience as medical receptionist (preferred)5 years experience in customer service (required)Skills, Knowledge, and Experience RequirementsCommitment to Catherine’s mission of providing access to high quality, affordable, and compassionate healthcarePatient-Centered/Customer FocusedExcellent verbal and written communicationProficiency with standard desktop computer system, multi-line phones, and keyboard entryExperience with electronic health record (such as Athena or EPIC)Ability to multi-task in a setting with frequent interruptionsMust have good knowledge and understanding of insurance verificationMust be able to communicate with patients and insurance companiesAbility to problem-solve, take direction, and work with a teamAvailable Monday through Friday, approximately 25 hours per week.
