Job Description : Legal Assistant/ParalegalMust have at least some previous law firm experience. This is not negotiable.Include a cover letter as well as resume. We will not consider candidates without a cover letter.Minimum of 2 years working in a law office or similar.Somewhat flexible as to exact work hours, but the position will be Monday through Friday.We are a small, busy law firm with three attorneys. We need someone who can provide back-up for busy phones and do document preparation as well as electronic filing. This person must be able to manage multiple files and tasks. Organization, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills are essential. At least some previous legal experience is important.This position must be able to interact courteously and professionally with clients as well as court staff and other professionals.Job Responsibilities:Primary responsibility will be to prepare and file legal documents, correspond with court staff, and help with file management. Will do some incoming phone call back-up support, which requires this person to track conflicts and set appointments. Likely to regularly communicate with clients, manage attorney calendars, including hearing dates, and perform other administrative tasks as needed.Enhances attorney effectiveness by tracking cases, managing client relationships, and supporting attorney case management.Need someone who has excellent customer service skills and works independently to get tasks done as efficiently as possible. Ideally this person will help ensure no aspect of case management is overlooked or communication delayed.Legal Assistant Job Duties:Keeps cases organized by monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software; regularly confirming case status with attorney.Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; preparing and filing motions as needed; generating status reports upon request.Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact and communicating case progress or scheduling follow-up calls with attorneys.Creates and updates templates used for generating correspondence and legal documents.Would like this person to gain certification as a notary public for the State of Oregon.Skills and Qualifications:Legal Administration Skills, Client Relationships, Organization, Planning, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality, DependabilityLooking for stable employment history.CompensationPay: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, depending on experience.
