Position : Fine & Performing Arts Coordinator
Job Description : The position of Fine & Performing Arts Coordinator is done for the purpose of overseeing the day to day operations of the Reynolds High School Fine & Performing Arts Center to include daily administrative support functions; overall production coordination for auditorium productions and art productions to include scheduling, organizing, and coordination of exhibits, and overseeing student workers; maintenance of equipment including ensuring safety requirements are met; and serving as a liaison to staff, parents, students, and outside community groups who use the facility.
Essential Functions:
Work collaboratively with the fine and performing arts staff in addition to other Reynolds School District staff to carry out all assigned duties.
Supervise the daily operations of the fine and performing arts building during school days.
Coordinate and supervise all school day, evening, and weekend events that take place in the fine and performing arts building throughout the calendar year.
Maintain confidential records and information.
Assist with website articles, daily announcements, and email announcements to both staff and community.
Develop mail, email, Facebook and other media contact lists to advertise for all fine and performing art productions.
Assist and support hired accompanists, music tutors, theater technicians and other outside vendors when requested.
Support the fine and performing art teachers with daily tasks and other duties both during and outside of the regular school day.
Attend all monthly department and faculty meetings.
Serve as a member of the Calendar Committee and assist school administration with the maintenance of the Tandem calendar system.
Work with administration to create a detailed teardown and setup schedule for all calendared events in the fine and performing arts building.
Auditorium Productions
Schedule and organize student technicians throughout the year to work on fine and performing art events.
Maintain and repair sound, lighting, and other equipment to be used for a variety of events throughout the year.
Assist and advise the building staff in the design of all stage props and equipment.
Attend all productions in order to supervise and monitor all operations.
Art Productions
Assist with annual art productions such as the Senior Art Show and Art Auction.
Manage student workers and help with gallery maintenance needs and events.
Facilitate all aspects of exhibition requirements including moving and storing of art works, documentation and sales of art works, scheduling of artists, web announcements, and press releases.
Coordinate installation of exhibits for maximum public viewing and visual impact.
Work with Mt Hood, PSU and local community to foster interest in and access to the Reynolds Contemporary Art Gallery.
Attend all art and other building events to supervise and monitor the use of equipment.
Community Liaison
Develop and maintain relationships with community groups who currently rent the building for special events.
Build and establish relationships with new community groups interested in facility rental.
Safety
Serve as a member of the Safety Committee and attend monthly meetings.
Assess general maintenance, safety issues, and repairs to the fine and performing arts building with school administration.
Monitor supplies and other materials for building staff.
Qualifications:
Experience Required: Prior experience working with high school students with increasing levels of responsibility preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skills to plan, organize, and oversee events; operate standard office equipment including computer, telephone, printer and copier; effectively use Microsoft Office computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; communicate effectively in English both orally in person and by phone and in writing; use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Capable of using a fly system, including how to load weights on an arbor.
Advanced Knowledge of sound, lighting, and other equipment to setup the auditorium for a variety of productions and operation of an ETC 48/96 light board for drama, music, and other productions.
Knowledge of circuit loads and patching.
Abilities to stand/walk/sit for extended periods of time; keep and maintain accurate records, understand and carry out oral and written instructions, effectively communicate with and direct students.
Significant physical abilities include frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds in a safe manner; climbing ladders, moving in the catwalk, and using a Genie lift; pushing/pulling balancing, stooping, reaching/handling/manual dexterity, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds (potential hazards), visual acuity/depth perception with or without visual
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED required.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal background check clearance.
